  • Its cool if you cannot think of anything. I just thought you could take the topic to levels I could not. Seems 4consideration hit the nail on the head. Ehh?

Check out my new thread in the christian dir about grace its musicaly inspired
Wow, actually? We definitely could've unknowingly seen each-other! What a big small world this is!

Anyway, Toronto definitely isn't for everyone. It's, basically, got the multiculturalism of London with the North American Big City style. I can see how it might be irritating, but I like it. For now.
    Namaste!

I've got a draft I've been chipping away at for a little while now, but I recently relocated to Bangladesh, and have been ill. Should take another week - certainly not a burden, but don't want to ************ the job.
    hey thanks!!!

it's not so easy being a grown up...but it's rather fulfilling when we choose to be
    :)
Will do - thanks for your kind comments. The Jonang school certainly deserves mention, and their philosophy of zhentong (empty of not-self) - which is also embraced to a degree by kagyu and nyingma schools.

But, the formulation of zhentong notwithstanding, the vajrayana itself is based on such eternalized concepts as embodied in the tathagatagarbha cycle of sutras, and taken further in the tantras in their review of the dharmakaya and vajrakaya - eternal cosmic bodies of the Buddhas.
About 2 months ago. Moved back in with my family.

I hate this town, but they make up for it.
apparently I cant give you another frubal ...boo hooo ... so just have to say

"I think if you cut out the Love from all the Holy Books, you'd have a bound version of confetti."

well said , ... jai jai :namaste
Cutting the spiritual materialism is a good way to put it and what you say about it is true.

Have you read about the 'Two Truth Doctrine', I feel it really gets to the core of 'labels' vs 'use of labels' in speaking about things of this nature.

It is of course it's own set of labels used to explain, but it's one I've liked and one that changed the 'conversation' for me.

Especially here at RF where there is so much hacking it out for labels sake, which I believe just takes us further away from the point of practice in the first place.

Do you Facebook? And would you like to exchange info? You're a person here I've constantly enjoyed reading and has always caught my eye. It'd be nice to be able to touch base outside of here as well, if you're game. If not... absolutely no pressure. I understand privacy as well. :)
Thanks for the frubie. I agree, I am starting to see the various practices and belief systems to be more like means than the end, the fact of the matter. The point is not so much the definitions, but the proverbial "moon" they point to :D. And regarding identity, there is a quote by Dogen Zenji that I particularly liked,

"People who truly follow the Way would do well to conceal the fact that they are Buddhists."

To me, this takes identity out of the equation and the spiritual materialism that results from emulating rather than genuinely practicing a particular spiritual way. That is a trap that damn near everyone unwittingly falls into, and even fewer realize they have fallen into.
