But in the meantime, I'll try to put together a few things.
The lunch went very well. Don and I discussed a book he's been reading on Americans in Paris during the 1820s. Apparently, Americans were very much hicks back then. They thought going to Paris would ruin their morals. Still, some did, and almost all of them were shocked by what they saw --- nude statues, abject poverty in places, free museums (there were no free museums in America at the time), Black people treated as social equals, and so forth. It was quite an experience for them.
Heh... one of my high school friends (and the brother of one of my best friends) is a "noise artist"... apparently he's pretty well regarded in the noise community. I'll have to hit him up for some of his stuff.
