    If that coin is Burmese, I am not certain who it is depicting on the one side. It certainly is NOT the Buddha. It could be a bodhisatta, they are frequently depicted with crowns. If so, it may be Maitreya, he is often depicted in art as in the process of rising from his seat, which the figure appears to be doing on the coin. This of course, is assuming it is Burmese...

    Vedic and Ionian Greeks are the same on Eos (Usha), Zeus (Dyavuh), Ouranos (Varuna), Helios (Surya), etc. Why? Because they had a common Aryan ancestry. Identification of indigenous Indian Gods and Goddesses is not possible. Herakles/Krishna/Bacchus/Dionysus seems contrived.

    I think they can be identified. The Greeks would identify their gods with Egyptian deities even though they have a different background and culture. (Hermes was identified with Thoth...)

    We had to have one of our three released today from his struggle by a very kind vet. Snoopy was 22 so a real old boy, but special to us and a kitten to the end.

    Thank you! She seems to be adjusting well to her new life with me. I am really happy to have her here. Her name is Korra. I still miss my old cat, Foxy. I've cried a lot over her. I am hopeful that she has found a happy rebirth, she was a very sweet kitty.

    It would be an informal one-on-one session. The monk I spoke to about it is a young Burmese man. He said that I could help him learn English while he teaches me Pali! Sounds like a deal. I am busy with work and other things; but, I want to make an effort to do this!

    Yes, Von Beck. Reasonably well. It is Choti Diwali today (lesser Diwali - beginning of lighting). Tomorrow Diwali, day-after Go-vardhan (for increase in live-stock, we do not have any but the tradition continues), and then the day for brothers and sisters, Bhai Dooj (sisters are supposed to come to brothers to tie the thread. In Rakshabandhan, it is the brothers who go to the sisters' place). So best wishes for a prosperous year on this Diwali (Deepawali - line of lights). :)
