I can understand your concerns: Sikhism is closer, and probably going to be easier for your parents to swallow, but if your heart pulls you towards Hinduism, go for it.

Not really. I had to be careful because everything had beef in it! I did eat mostly vegetarian food though which helped, but I'd do more japa than puja and such.
