Yeah, i read it. It's a hard situation, especially because the Abrahamic religions takes this thing very seriously, i know that because my parents would lose their minds if i decided i want to convert.
However, i'm almost sure, if you manage to order your thoughts, and give them a good explanation, through time they'll get used to it. Probably not right away, but i think they'll manage eventually to understand. You are doing the right thing, and like you said in the thread, religion's point is not what they told you, it's all about you. So, if you really feel sure that Sikhism is the religion for you, you shouldn't let them get in the way. I've seen a similar experience with a relative of mine, he first became christian, then an atheist. All the family finally got used to it, i think most families get used to it in the end. You can take your time too.
