    So one record out of three says those were the hottest years. Congrats. I'll stick with my 2/3's majority. Plus, if you look at the thermometer record, there is a distinct point in time when a significant number of measuring stations were closed. Subsequently the temperatures immediately rose.

    Umm, no, that equation allows for such things. Is the equation over simplified, sure, but there's no reason it can't work as long as you add and subtract the energy accordingly.

    That graph shows exactly what I think it does. What your graph shows are the inferior thermometers. What reason would there be for them to use thermometers? The satellites are much more efficient in covering the entire globe. Thermometers can only hope to cover maybe 1% of the surface...

    2016 was a massive El Nino. Of course it's going to be warmer than other years. 1998 was the hottest year prior to that, again due to a massive El Nino. Learn some facts. Venus #1 is a lot closer to the Sun and #2 has a completely different atmospheric makeup. Apples and Oranges.
