Thanks, I'm glad to be here.
As for using "Bastet" --it's a common mistake and in the end not really a big deal. Don't worry about it. :D When it comes to translating ancient languages to our own things can happen.
Right now functional polytheism and archetypal polytheism seem to fit my idea of the gods. I used to consider myself a soft polytheist a few years ago, but things changed. The functional and archetypal polytheism make sense to my agnostic view.
First, does pantheism belong under theism? From what I know it's more associated with agnosticism and atheism. The "-theism" in the name is misleading. Reading from the various sites listed paint a more detailed picture.
Pantheism is the view that Nature and God are one, that the world is...
Nonreligious Faiths (Atheism, None, Irrelevant, etc.) (Specify)
No religious affiliations. I find truths in all paths, but not one path seems to be for me. I'm agnostic with theistic tendencies. In the last decade I've researched just about all the paths listed in this quiz, because of that I...
Bast. I love cats.
(Makhsihed made a good point about her name, which is why I spell it without the ending "et")
Some other favorites are: Nebthet, Sekemet, Seshet (I love her!) and Ma'at.
All my life I'm been obsessed with Ancient Egypt, I even dabbled in the Kemetic Orthodoxy (I'm a...
I saw that there was no threads in this section so I thought I might post some definitions:
Soft polytheism is a variety of polytheism whose adherents believe in many Gods and Goddesses but consider them in some way as manifestations of a single personal God, or God and Goddess, rather than...
I voted other because I'm sort of in between yes and no. When I was younger I went though a period when I was obsessed with them, espeically Gabriel for some reason. Now the interest comes and goes. There have been times when I suspected an angel was around, but being agnostic about things like...
I came across this name in my old (1980s) encyclopedia a few weeks ago. I never heard of it before (that I could remember, I've probaby come across though) so I am quite interested in it. Thanks for the links! It seems very interesting :D
I found a few more:
[wait, I have to make some more...
Hello Pooh, welcome! :D
I started reading the book "The Tao of Pooh" before, I had to return in half read to the library. Are you a fan of the book, Pooh and/or Taoism?
Thanks everyone! :)
Upon looking I depth I found this place to be awesome! I'm glad I found it.
Lux is latin for Light
Umbra is latin for Shadow
As far as I know "et" implies And
So "light and shadow"
I chose it because: 1. I like latin 2. I like the symbolism of darkness and light
How I came across this board I don't know, I was doing some research, clicked a link and found a thread here. The place looks interesting so I thought I'd join. :)
I'm 21 years old and I've been (I hate to say it, but it's true) obessed with religions and theology for about a decade. I was...
