And, yes, people throughout history have always had the ability to make excuses for their behavior...i.e. God said to do it because "those people" were horrendously wicked.
It's still done today, don't you agree?
Say what? One-sided? Monogamous, long-term, same-sex relationships where both partners are committed to each other and have their spiritual and emotional (as well as physical) needs met are one-sided? I think you need to reconsider what you just said here.
Unless, of course, "God" tells "his people" to murder men, women and children--even infants, but take captive the young virgins for you to rape--as well as horses and other livestock, simply because they happen to have settled on land that "God" has decided to give to "his people."
Then murder...
Savagery? Perhaps you are ignorant of many aspects of the animal kingdom. Many animal species exhibit compassion and empathy for others of their kind, and often towards other species as well. Animals kill to survive. They do not kill for sport or to hang a "trophy" somewhere. Humans would...
If you're going to take this tack, perhaps you should look at it in a slightly different way. God created humans and animals--not as robots that perform in lockstep--but as individuals with differences...and sexual orientation is not because of a "fallen state" but is something that God...
It's not a "really bad argument." Humans don't look at what animals do and then copy it, and sexual orientation is something that is common both in the animal kingdom as well as in humans. Humans are the only ones, however, who don't deal well with differences from the majority and they are...
Homosexuality is not an aberration, nor is it a sin. It is simply a normal sexual orientation, although it is not as common (obviously) as heterosexuality.
Humans tend to demonize any differences from what they perceive as "normal," which, in reality is merely what is most common. Being...
Perhaps, but what happened to him certainly has colored my opinion of Mormons...and that opinion is not very good. Oh, I almost forgot about one other thing that happened while he lived with this Mormon family. My father had given my nephew a deck of playing cards, which my nephew cherished...
Excuse me, but I nearly choked laughing so hard at your post. What is well-known by any who have lived the JW life is that "willful wrongdoers" such as pedophiles are quite adept at lying and denying that they have done anything wrong whatsoever. Also, if those "willful wrongdoers" claim to be...
I have never heard of any official JW school. I do know that many JWs opt to home school their children so that they won't be exposed to "worldly" teachings and because there are no JW schools to which they could send their children.
Some JWs DO carry weapons these days, although I doubt that any would engage in a home invasion. On the Topix forum, there was a JW from Florida who often spoke about how both he and his wife had concealed carry permits and took their handguns with them everywhere--except for the KH meetings...
And you continually refuse to acknowledge that there is a vast difference between elective procedures where "bloodless medicine" can be planned for and utilized, and emergency situations where the person is bleeding out and the ONLY option to save their life is a blood transfusion.
Perhaps you should ask yourself that question? JWs state that the "light gets brighter and brighter" yet their history is rife with backpedaling and flip-flops, with "truth" becoming "old light" and then in a few years becoming "new light" once again.
In the JW world, the "light" goes...
Oh, bad idea suggesting praying with JWs. They believe that anyone other than themselves would not be praying to God, but to Satan, and they would avoid joining in prayer with anyone unless THEY were the ones initiating the prayer--preferably at a Bible study (indoctrination session) with you.
Neither the JWs nor the Mormons have been in our neighborhood for years. However, one time when the JWs did stop by years ago, I was on my way out, and didn't really have time to discuss anything with them, so I just mentioned that my husband is disfellowshipped. The younger JW woman backed up...
And yet, in a similar situation that occurred in Mexico, JWs were allowed to bribe officials in order to get a similar card. The difference is that the WTS would have suffered consequences in Mexico, but in Malawi only the JW rank and file suffered.
Your comment is what is rubbish. The JWs...
I have to disagree with you on this one. From my experience with my nephew, who was raised as a JW and then became a Mormon for a time (poor kid) the Mormons were pretty odd. As an example, my nephew was living with a Mormon foster family when his grandfather died. They actively tried to...
And what makes it even worse is that JWs are taught that they should avoid worldly friends and associations at all costs. So, if a JW leaves the organization, or if they are "thrown out" they are set adrift in a world where they have been taught abounds with people they have been taught to...
