Ella, You seem to be assuming that I am speaking about a God who is above or outside of the laws of logic. I’m not. I believe that logic is built into God and that the laws of logic have always existed, because God has always existed.
Oh. I was a very informed atheist.
Rationality, eh? Would that be rationality in a subjective sense?
The usual suspects… the moral argument, the ontological argument, the cosmological argument, Pascal’s wager, the contingency argument....
The arguments noted above. ;)
Ooooh! You’re...
Of course! Many atheists cherry-pick from the Bible constantly.
Assuming you mean talking about religion, you asked, "What have atheiests (sic) to do with religion?" I pointed out that they love to talk about religion; that is what atheists have to do with religion.
CG, if I were you (Bahai'i then Fundy Christian!!!) I would stand in your shoes.
I thank God that I was an atheist for so many years. Now there's a sentence you won't see often!
Yes, I am aware of this, joelr. ;) The person I'm really interested is the author of the paper. You say the author is RV Gherman. I would like to know more about her/him. Can you help? A link perhaps?
Been there, done that... many years ago.
As physicist Neil Bohr said to a student “No, no, you are not thinking; you’re just being logical.”
If we fail to open ourselves to ways of experiencing reality that are beyond logic, all we do is narrow our vision.
Oh, I totally agree. There is so much hypocrisy around this idea that what the Bible says can be interpreted in a way that makes MrB’s words true. If one can do this, then of course the authors of the many books of the Bible can be seen to REALLY say what MrB says.
It’s just that the Bahai’s...
I am glad we agree that many hypocritical Christians cherry-pick from the Bible.
And of course, as I said above, the same goes for many hypocritical Bahia’s, Atheists, Agnostics, Muslims …
I am pointing out that your implication that all theists cherry-pick what their god is responsible for is an exaggeration. How can you possibly construe this as
‘picking an argument’?
I hope you agree that some theists are hypocrites, but not all?
Well, not quite. Tb agreed with you that...
