Seeing things in their past? You are full of beans!

It may or may not help to revive the graph that describes length contraction vs. relative velocity. The two limits, if I am understanding it correctly, are the x and y intercepts. The y intercept is 1.0. The x intercept is at c. At the y intercept there is no relative velocity and anything...

    My Thoughts on Reasoned Arguments

I tend to agree with this sentiment. It says a lot when someone has to reject evidence because it is inconvenient for their position. Debates are rarely held in the context of two people talking to one another and no one else listening.

In What Way are Mutations Random?

All of the mutations science has looked at have been random. That's because evolution includes natural selection which selects for random mutations that increase fitness. Radiation is one of many possible causes, but probably the most common cause is just the chemistry of biology itself...

    My Thoughts on Reasoned Arguments

I would agree. Another way to put it is if you accept the premises as accurate then the conclusion is supported.

    What point would that be?

    The Watchmaker Revisited

Which do a I think is more likely: natural processes or magical poofing. I tend to lean towards natural processes.

    The Watchmaker Revisited

That's like saying that if diamonds were the norm then we would find them everywhere, therefore God must create diamonds.

    My Thoughts on Reasoned Arguments

The best advice I can give is that the method of determining truth is more important than what you claim is truth. As you state, it is the reasoning behind a conclusion that makes the conclusion compelling. The quality of an argument depends on the quality of your reasons for reaching that...

Seeing things in their past? You are full of beans!

The limit on one side is zero velocity with respect to the Earth. The other limit is a velocity of c relative to Earth. With zero velocity relative to the Earth you get 0 length contraction. At the other limit of c you get infinite length contraction so that there is no distance.

    You are describing yourself again.

    Right move?

Stopping illegal immigration doesn't require us to take children away from parents. That's pretty much where previous administrations stood on the matter, including GW Bush. It wasn't until the most recent policy change last April that resulted in families being separated at the border. Laws...

I thought we were talking about the observer? Are we bouncing between the observer and the photon again?

Seeing things in their past? You are full of beans!

The observer never reaches the limit, so why keep asking about it?

    Right move?

If you think that stopping families from being separated is good, then issuing the zero tolerance order that resulted in families getting separated at the border was bad. You can't say that both are good.

The observer isn't at the limit, so why does it matter?

The limit would be c. When you plug that number into the formula you get a zero in the denominator.

How we know that there was no Flood of Noah.

We have geologic records that would record a flood if one occurred, and there is no evidence of a flood in those records. That is why we conclude that there was no global flood.

Seeing things in their past? You are full of beans!

You wouldn't notice anything different about the laws of physics if you were on a spaceship travelling near the speed of light. You would observe that the speed of light is ~3E8 m/s. The observer that would notice something wonky going on in the spaceship would be an observer that sees the...
