I think it is fine to use the phrase "strong atheism" to denote those who claim that no gods exist. As long as there is an acknowledgement that atheism does not require a belief that no gods exist it should be fine.
Most scientists conclude that the universe started out very small and dense...
This book is still on my "to read" list:
"Anti-Intellectualism and American Life" by Richard Hofstadter

Hofstadter published that book in the early 1960's and it won the Pulitzer Prize. It is...
A light year is based on a reference, that being the speed of light and the orbital time of Earth. We could also use parsecs for our distance which is based on the parallax of stars at the extreme ends of Earth's orbit. It is no different than the kilogram which is based on a reference. The...
The easiest method is to put the numbers into the equations for time dilation.
Δt = the observer time, or two-position time (s)
Δt0 = the proper time, or one-position time (s)
v = velocity (m/s)
c = speed of light (3.0 x 10^8 m/s)
When you plug the speed of light into the equation for v...
It is a measurement for any object with a velocity. For example, a bullet travelling at 500 m/s would take 6E5 years to travel 1 ly. It just so happens that for photons in a vacuum the conversion factor is 1.
So you claim.
Again, that's just based on your say so. Also, I would think that an all powerful deity would be able to make sound waves in our atmosphere.
Perhaps that is why you would want to be an atheist, but I think you will find that the vast majority of atheists are no different than your fellow Christians when it comes to sex.
A light year is the DISTANCE that light will travel in one year.
If you were pulled over by the police and they asked you how fast you were going, would you say, "30 miles"?
If not, then why did you say that c, the speed of light, is 3E8 meters? Speed is distance over time, not just a distance.
It isn't similarity that evidences evolution. Rather, it is the nested hierarchy of similarities that evidences evolution. It is the PATTERN of similarities which evidences evolution.
In the fossil record we see the opposite trend where the oldest hominid transitionals have the most ape...
School boards are the only battle they really ever picked. There has been no concerted effort in doing ID research and submitting their work to the scientific community. For the rest of science, it starts in the scientific community and then ends up in science textbooks and high school science...
I am not aware of any ID hypotheses that they have tested in the field of biology. At best, they try to argue against evolution, but that isn't ID research. That is evolution research.
