Kiss and Tell: Your First Kiss

Mine was with Matthew Smith, on the school oval in grade 6 (I was 12). I had a crush on the little freckled ginger and we were sitting in a circle with our friends and they egged us on. Sadly, it was a very sloppy kiss. :-/

My problem with Paganism - help appreciated

Hi Orbit No, I'm not an ex-Christian. But my mum is sort-of Christian, and passed her fears on to me, I think. I was fine for 10 years as a Sikh, no problems, it's just the Pagan paths that I struggle with.

My problem with Paganism - help appreciated

G'day As a teen exploring neo-Paganism in the late 1990's, it was impressed upon me by family members that my interest would attract 'bad energies' and cause bad things to happen to me, my home and my family members. When my mum got sick and taken to hospital when I was 14, she said it was...

    Animal slaughter - blot

I just stumbled upon this reference to slaughter method while reading the Germanic paganism Wiki Page:

    House Spirit

Whenever I move house, the last thing I do is hug a wall before I leave and lock the door for the last time. I'm a house-hugger hahaha. I strongly feel that all homes have their own energy and it is important to thank the home for you being able to stay there. I don't know about the spirit of...

Ancestors - how do you relate to them?

Hello again If you're anything like me, you are a bit of a genetic mutt, with a generalised idea of your heritage. For example, I know my mother's side is Scottish/English and my father's side German and possibly Norman (tracing the history of my surname). I myself am a fourth generation...

    Animal slaughter - blot

Hello Have you ever attended a blot at which an animal was slaughtered and eaten? If so, is a particular slaughter method used by Heathens? Personally, if the animal is well cared for and dispatched quickly and humanely, I see no problem with incorporating this element into a blot. Thanks

I am no longer a Sikh

I also acknowledge that it is very generous for Sikhs to allow all different kinds of people into the Gurdwara with minimum fuss, and have them in their sangat, and serve them langar. Given the racism a lot of Indians/Malaysians experience, particularly in Australia, I understand how westerners...

I am no longer a Sikh

I know - but I prefer to have my head securely covered. The undercap really helps keep the chunni on this gori's head.

I am no longer a Sikh

I wholeheartedly agree with everything you've said, bhaji. The social isolation has been a large part of it, for me. And hearing about the negative experiences of other gori bhainjis. I have been at Gurdwara with my long uncut hair in a braid, head covered with an undercap and a chunni over...

I am no longer a Sikh

@Satnaam, Ah "the real Sikhi". You mean, my own personal interpretation of it? What would be the point, exactly? Why not just be myself to start with. I don't 'blame' Sikhi, I merely listed some of the factors that contributed to my personal decision to leave. I also know Sikhs who...

Thank you for the kind wishes. :) It didn't disappoint me. I just don't belong there, that's all.

    Why pray?

When I prayed, yes, I did. It's a personal moment of focusing on the connection between yourself and Something Greater. It helps to share problems, responsibilities, cry out, share happiness, give thanks.

    My monitor's current wallpaper

Computers with a limited amount of RAM can perform a little bit better without having to load wallpaper, particularly if it's a good quality (high resolution) image. But these days most computers have RAM to spare so it's not an issue. :)
