    'Avatar' of Sadashiva

I got off track on my rant there. I wanted to know if you'd ever seen lingams with shri yantra carved on the tips? I just find it odd is all.

    'Avatar' of Sadashiva

I am fairly obsessive about these things. The worst thing about it is that I keep expecting EVERYONE to know all this as well. A wide foundation of knowledge only provides the best platform on which to reach towards enlightenment.

    'Avatar' of Sadashiva

AND ANOTHER THING I thought of something else. I went to his Glimpses of Mahasadashivoham class at one of his temples. He insisted he was going to take me and everyone watching over two way video chat or there at his ashram to Kailash. I can say that he most assuredly did not take me there...

    'Avatar' of Sadashiva

Woo boy. This is gonna get long. Namaste, my friends and family (Aup has adopted me as his stupid white grand daughter) of the Hindu DIR, today I am going to talk (type, lol), again, about Paramahamsa Nithyananda, populary known as Swami Ji by his disciples. Now, I've mentioned this in the...

Indian Gurus get a peer review system

I suspect 'Paramahamsa' Nithyananda has been left out because he is actively challenging the fact that he will be the leader of the Akhara despite the fact that the present leadership has decided he is bad news. Mayhaps when the title was given he was still genuinely trying to help people and...

    Thoughts on Swami Nithyananda

That's exactly what I thought, tbh.

I keep the Trayambakam mantra close to my heart. The other one I'd never heard before (or have so long ago I've forgotten) but I was just looking up Shiva bhajans for the person who asked for them set to the sound. As my official new grandpa I will wish you happy Australian Father's Day!

Which mantras, now I am confused! I have no grandfather's, would you like to be a stupid white girl's grandfather? I bet you're awesome.

    Anavopaya Sutra 6

I wonder if this is in reference to my Swami Nithyananda post? He claims he can give people shaktis, which honestly just sounds like siddhis by any other name.

    Lord Shiva's most favorite food...

When I perform abhishekam it is generally only with water but that's because it's less mess. Usually it's Gangajal (water from Ganga), milk, honey, ghee and curd (yoghurt), all preferably cool as they help to cool Lord Shiva's tapasic fire. You can offer jaggery over the lingam and a range of...

    Lord Shiva's most favorite food...

Bilva leaf and fruit, betel leaf and nut, Datura flower and fruit and lest we not forget, bhang.

A song like this for Shiva

Similar tune can be found with the Shiva Gayatri. I am the Tryambakam mantra can also be chanted/sung to this tune.

    Thoughts on Swami Nithyananda

When Shiva takes form it is through His own will. There is no mother or father for Shiva as He is the first. Taking birth requires a womb. Shiva never does this. All manifestations of Shiva that He takes are swayambhu, self manifesting independent forms.

Sri Anandmurti Gurumaa on the six virtues....sam, dam, shraddha, teeteeksha, upram and samadhan.

It sounds like Dharma by any other name. All the qualities she has mentioned are required for Dharma to be carried out.

    Thoughts on Swami Nithyananda

I have to come to a shaky conclusion that it's perhaps not real. He charges $10000 for a 25 day yogic retreat. That's $400 a day. That alone makes it prohibitively expensive and just makes me think of paying for enlightenment which is a thing I do not believe in But, you know, I probably...

    Happy Janmashtami 2017

Not gonna lie. First thought was 'get out of the butter, you little ****,' very affectionately. The same way I call my cats my little ****s. I know it sounds offensive but the word is used commonly in Australian slang. Krishna is very beautiful, as always. Happy Birthday to the Poorna Avataram...

    Daily darshan

It's not Bala Sundari as She is a young form of Parvati. It is Ashoka Sundari, whom Parvati creates out of an Ashoka tree. Like Murugan is deeply loved by Parvati, Ashoka Sundari is extremely dear to Shiva. I went and looked it up... Still don't know who sword boy is.

    In Home Mandir

Have any of you thought of hiring a carpenter to make one for you? While it might be a little pricey any of the ones shipped from India are also going to be pricey simply due to how much it costs to ship. If you go the carpenter route you can specify what you want. For instance for myself I...
