I don't really know... I've been exploring all religions and nothing really sits well with me. It's just maybe a longing to 'belong', to a community or group of people with similar values
I think religion with its creation stories and such was a way of understanding the forces of nature. Of course now we have science to explain everything... so to me at least religion seems very fantastical
I'm an atheist, a strong atheist and naturalist, yet I am just obsessed with religion, with needing some kind of personal religious framework and such, I don't know why? I was into the new age scene before I gathered my wits about me and realised it was all delusional, but is it just habit after...
I'm the same. I think it's the mystery. Humans either shun it out of fear or ignore convention and explore... but through exploration we learn truth. Even if truth is naturalistic, we learn about ourselves as humans through it.
I found salvation in transhumanism. An atheistic approach to future human advances, especially in health (well at least that is my interest). I don't believe in God and of course after that sinking feeling that there was nothing left to live for, I realised I could still have purpose by trying...
De facto atheist. I think the gods are mental constructs. Playing with NLP and creative visualization has allowed me to realize how easily spiritual visions and experiences and stuff can be manipulated, which means they can't exist outside of our own imagination.
Do you think the mind is monotheistic (as in, one higher self), or polytheistic (multiple differing complexes that govern their own thing?) I am just interested, I guess most pagans would consider themselves polytheistic Jungians? Does anyone know out of which of the two is more generally...
I think so yeah, I was discussing this with my boyfriend (who used to be a marxist, though I don't know really what that entails since I'm new to politics), I think that people with ambition need to be able to capitalize on their skills. There needs to be some room for individuality.
I had been searching for a monotheistic Goddess faith and realised there are not really many out there. So I invented my own, lol. It just sort of happened, but it'd be nice to chat with those of you who want a more monotheistic Goddess centred religion too. I don't know if I can link my site...
Ok thanks, but for example, could I just call myself Wiccan once I made my mind up and identity as that? Even if it's not properly initiated?
So also, what's the difference between paganism and wiccan, and same question for paganism... can you just call yourself one and be a solo practitioner...
I have started reading up on Wicca and it feels right to me, although I am atheist and don't believe in any deities or the supernatural or magic, I see the beauty in nature and feel drawn to anthropomorphizing it in a pantheistic/polytheistic way. I read about naturalistic paganism which appeals...
Lately I've become interested in naturalistic pantheism, and I like the symbolic metaphor for the Universe being the Divine Feminine. Are there any religions/movements like that?
Closest I can think is Shaktism, as Shaktism is nondualistic with Shakti considered the Manifest Universe.
