    He's baaack!

I'm fresh out of cake, but I do have a supply of chocolate chip cookies.

    He's baaack!

So it's been awhile since I've been here. I won't go into details, but I needed a break. So I come back, and everything is all different; it's like a whole new forum. But it's just as well, I'm probably a new me, in that I'm considering going nack to Christianity; but this isn't a rejection...

I've been doing good. I had to take a break for a while. I hope you've been doing well as well.

    Ferguson!

This is a case of voting for the lesser of two evils. What's worse: a minority breaking into stores because they don't get equal protection, or the establishment killing off minorities that don't get equal protection?

    Ferguson!

I'm right next door in Indiana, Heather, although the police here aren't any better. I can give you a hug though :hug , and beer :p

    Ferguson!

Both good points. The root issue, I think, is the attitude the police have to begin with, which us that they are free to do as they please with no retribution. And unfortunately, this is often the case. The police, withstate government approval, has free reign to do what they will, with no...

    Ethics - Inherent or God-Given?

I think ethics are learned based on culture and upbrining. To me, there doesn't seem to be anything to suggest that they're above human limitations, or absolute, or qnything of the sort.

    Ferguson!

It's been in the works for a while now. We've been a police state, but now hopefully people are finally starting to see it.

    Rape Culture is Real

It's definitely real, and I know this from personal experience. I won't go into details, but it's something I've been thinking about for some time, and the more I think about it, the madder I get. And it's even worse than most of you even realize.

    Trying to understand disbelief

Atheism doesn't always equal non-religious. I'm an atheist Buddhist. But other than that, I have several reasons for being here: 1. trying to clarify and sharpen my own beliefs, 2. asking questions about others' beliefs I don't understand, and 3. talking with people of my religion. There is a...

Gay Rights: Is it time to Boycott Firefox?

I'd like to hear what IE users think, but I guess we'll have to wait a year to see what they have to say.

Gay Rights: Is it time to Boycott Firefox?

Thankfully, I had already switched from Firefox to Chrome some time back. I think it would be funny to see all these businesses start to lose business because of denying service to homosexuals.

    Shiva in Buddhism

Is the Hindu god Shiva found in Buddhism? If so, how?

Founding fathers, the US was founded on Christianity, and a list of non-Christian founding fathers

Evangelical Christians believe that the US is a Christian nation, founded on Christian principals, and that all the founding fathers were Christians. But I found these lists interesting: Here's a listing of all the founding fathers who were either deists or Unitarian/Universalists/UU's...

    Deism and Unitarian Universalism

Are there any links, both historically and theologically, between Deism and Unitarian Universalism?

    Internet chat rooms

Where are the best internet chat rooms, especially for religious discussions? I haven't been able to find anything. Keep in mind, I ask because I haven't been able to get Paltalk to work since their update, and I have no idea how to use IRQ (if someone wants to guide me, this would be fine too).

    Fermi Paradox and God

I like to think of earth, in terms of universal intelligent lifeforms, as the trailer park of the universe. :p (ok, humor time over)
  19. dyanaprajna2011

    Fermi Paradox and God

I think this paradox is assuming too much. If there are intelligent alien species (and I believe that there are), why assume they have the technology to contact us? We could very easily turn the question around on ourselves: why haven't we contacted alien life? If we can assume that there is...
