Good Advice Which Is Actually Terrible

"The Law of Attraction", aka "it's your fault if you're poor or depressed".

    You're trans-...what?

Dysphoria is a dysfunction; transition is the most effective treatment. I'm a bit confused, because it seems that earlier itt you were arguing that trans people should try and accept their assigned sex as opposed to getting treatment. That is true - the concept of people with animal souls is a...

    You're trans-...what?

It's not real. I don't mean "not valid" (tho it is true that one can't "transition species" etc) but rather that those communities don't really exist (except otherkin kind of, but that's basically a niche internet subculture). I'm very disappointed. You talk a lot about how the Left-Hand Path...

    What Has Happened to Skepticism?

But the whole point presented by the OP (if I understand correctly) is that pop skepticism (i.e. materialism, denial of the paranormal) lacks the depth or consistency of philosophical skepticism.

    What Has Happened to Skepticism?

No, that is exactly what the term means. And "true skeptics" certainly do exist; standard physicalists just aren't an example. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Philosophical_skepticism

    What Has Happened to Skepticism?

It's easy to be skeptical of paranormal claims. But that's a very narrow conception of "skepticism", because you're still assuming a certain set of "normal" claims to be true. Do you believe that matter exists? More specifically do you believe in material objects external to the self, existing...

Do you Think God has a Self or is God Selfless?

As independent beings, the gods have selves... maybe? man, I'm a human, I don't know these things.

Libertarians and the Mainline U.S. Canidates.

Yes, taxation is coercive/violent. But there is no two-party candidate who opposes taxes. Every candidate wants to increase the scope of government, but state-sponsored tuition etc. is a way less authoritarian use of state funds than "a big, beautiful wall" or more "humanitarian" coups.

Libertarians and the Mainline U.S. Canidates.

Sanders does not want to increase the scope of the state's structurally oppressive functions - militarism, imprisonment, border control, surveillance etc. Regardless of one's economic views, Sanders is the least authoritarian (i.e. most libertarian) candidate of the bunch when viewed next to the...

    Masculine/butch Goddesses?

I was reading an article (http://www.goddess-athena.org/Athenaeum/Psychology/Athena/The_androgyny_of_Athena.htm) about Athena as an androgynous goddess, being called both Parthenos (signifying an innocent female virgin) and Pallas (which typically refers to a robust young man).

Converts: did you convert because of apologetic arguments?

Note: I am not a Christian, and as such I'm asking this as a non-debate question out of curiosity. Within Christian theology, there is the entire field of apologetics, which (to the best of my knowledge) is dedicated to providing logical and evidential arguments for the truth of Christianity...

GREAT News: Tim Tebow might run for Congress!!

Yep. My first thought was "eww, another Trump type". To me this kinda marks the Christian right floundering to hold onto relevance.

    Religions that are actually evil?

People pray to all sorts of gods to make people die. I'm just saying it's unfair to call the veneration of Santa Muerte an evil religion.

    Religions that are actually evil?

I know a guy who honors Santa Muerte. What you are saying here is a huge misunderstanding. To the best of my knowledge, Santa Muerte is a syncretic form of an Aztec goddess and the most popular folk saint in Mexico. She is the patron of outcasts, including criminals, immigrants, homeless people...

    How Religious Are You?

Same. I haven't made an offering or anything in almost a month, I think. :-/ But my religious worldview does influence my day-to-day life and perspective.
