I agree that they require some work, but I wasn't trying to give a definition for the Christian faith. That was just they way I see things... :)
A general definition would be something like this: A Christian is a person who adheres to Christianity, a monotheistic religion centered on the life...
Of course it can do bad! Even if Bush was (I don't think it is) blessed, this doesn't make him an angel. He's still a human, and it's in the human nature to do wrong.
Considering all the manipulation techniques that can be employed... trusting your gut could prove to be a wrong thing to do.
There have been cases in which the so called prophets lost their minds after foretelling something... and the thing they predicted didn't take place.
Two conclusions...
A Christian regards God as the highest authority in the whole universe; also, a Christian considers the Holy Bible to be the biggest source of truth, and follows it's teachings.
These are the key elements of the Christian religion.
Dismissing them would work only if you see the whole prophet-prophecy concept as a second-hand revelation. But what if someone believes in this concept? How can someone make the difference between a false prophet and a genuine one?
