Apparently . . .
"Kyrie" by Mr. Mister
I just find it ironic because I'm no longer Christian. And I'd think it would be the one from the year before, "Can't Fight This Feeling" by REO Speedwagon I like that one better, lol. And actually . . . I've never even heard that song before (Kyrie).

Careless Whisper by Wham!

I have a funny story that goes along with this song (maybe Troublemane has a similar one.........)

In high school, I had a German language teacher named Mr. Klauss. He was funny, sexist, and crude, but he did teach us how to speak rudimentary German. One day when the class was being overtly disruptive, he threatened that he was going to give us a "surprise" on our next test. We didn't know what that would entail, so in our ignorance, we continued to be loud and obnoxious.

On the day of our test, we sat down to see Mr. Klauss sitting at his desk with a boombox. He told us to go ahead and start our test. He then turned on the boombox, and the tape (this was 1987) started playing "Careless Whisper."

OK, we all were rather glad, since that was still somewhat of a hit. But we remember that our teacher was rather unorthodox and crude, so we were wondering how this going to fit into his plans to teach us a lesson in classroom politics. We listened to the song, and some of us hummed along while penciling in our answers.

The song eventually ended. And then started again.

We laughed, and Mr. Klauss just sat there with a slowly-emerging evil grin on his face. After the song ended, it started once again. It was then that our teacher had us in his grip - some of us were already starting to go crazy with hearing it this much.....but Mr. Klauss continued to grin at us with narrowed eyes.

We heard George Michael singing this song a 4th time, then a 5th, then a 6th time......and all the while our teacher never budged. Some of the students started begging and pleading for him to stop.

I can't remember how many times "Careless Whisper" was played. Maybe 8 times? 9? But one thing was sure, the students on the whole never tried to disrupt the class again. :angel2:

To this day, whenever I hear that song, it reminds me of that testing day in Mr. Klauss' sophmore German class.

John: "Help!" by the Beatles.

My dad: "September in the Rain" by Guy Lombardo.
My mom: "Life Is a Song" by Ruth Etting.

The day John and I base our anniversary on: "A Moment Like This" by Kelly Clarkson.
The day my parents got married: "Come Softly To Me" by the Fleetwoods.

I can't readily lay my hands on either my high school or my college diploma, so I can't check those.

"Seasons in the Sun" by Terry Jacks on my birth date. Oh well, never heard of him or the song...
I really hate that song.

Hah! The day I reached legal drinking age, the #1 song was Livin' La Vida Loca.....
The day I reached legal drinking age for beer (18th birthday) it was "Night Fever" by the Bee Gees.

The day I reached legal drinking age for liquor (21st birthday) it was "Morning Train (9 to 5)" by Sheena Easton -- same song that was #1 when you were born.
