Legally purchased and owned guns are not involved much in gun violence/shootings...it's mostly gangsta thug types with illegally obtained and owned guns. Our numbers would be as low as many European countries who possess far fewer guns if the illegal/gangsta thug portion was removed.
The localities where gun ownership or carrying guns is difficult or illegal tend to have the most violence and homicide attributed to guns. It's sad the facts are usually hidden or talked around so there is so much misunderstanding and anti propaganda floating around.

Banning guns in the US would do nothing to stem our rate of violence.
Eradicating guns lessen the kill rate, but that would be impossible.
Guns give the best kill rate possible as they are very effective. I think that's why the military goes into combat with them? There's very little chance to defend against a gun except with a gun, hence, the big paradox.

I think ban guns in US , will decrease the voilence using guns .
let me talk about my life experience :
I never heard that someone got killed because guns shoot , because it's banned for civilians here .
The Middle East and Africa is full of people who shouldn't have guns. Maybe if the people had guns they could defend them selves.

the problem that USA and other Western and Kings of oil countries gave the guns to rebels in Syria and Libya and Iraq . all we seeing the result
anyway seems that also some people in USA should not have guns too , it's duty of police to protect the civilians.

It's in the amendments. Problem is, it's still a translation of the amendment as the amendment is not clear enough on the subject. Oh, and it was written quite a long time ago.
If we can't abolish guns, then we need to control it. Gun rights are way too loose.
You don't let an 11 year old practice an uzi at the gun range because the parents and the instructor didn't know better. Unfortunately for one, it was a decision that can't be undone. Oh, and the punishment for the parents and the company? Nada...
