2012: What are your thoughts?

I don't. In the 1970s, you couldn't swing a cat without hitting some prophecy nut who knew for sure that the Rapture would be no later than 1981 and Jesus would return no later than 1988.

I don't know enough about psychology to know what's wrong with these people, but I know that whatever it is, it's very common.

Heck, my mother -- who is 90 years old -- tells me of revival meetings in the 1930s where the topic of the meetings was the Rapture coming within the decade.

That's true. All my life the world -- according to some folks -- has been fixing to end within a year or two. But none of those folks has been convinced enough to give me their house, yet.

1941 holocaust begins amidst the 2nd GREAT WAR. Countless number of people were killed during the height of global tension. how is this not different then what could possibly happen in the next three years.

There was no Rapture -- contrary to what people were predicting.

Dude, seriously. If people predict the Rapture and the Rapture doesn't happen but the Holocaust does, that means those people are really, really bad at prophecy.

"Somebody predicted something, and something happened -- not what they predicted, but something." That's not much of an argument for prophecy.

coulda been few more A-bombs and we all woulda been screwed. but mankind prevailed. Hence the same situations are proposed amongst all the 2012 prophecies a time of great change in which humanity will be put to the test.

and by Rapture you mean what the second coming of christ which is one of the definitions of the word?

In order to even believe in rapture you would have to believe in christ.

I have been hearing and seeing much talk and discussion about 2012 and what is to happen. I for one have no idea but would like to believe that there is some great change that is coming.

Do i think the apocalypse is coming? Maybe
Could it be World War 3? Maybe
It could be a number of things we will have to wait to find out.


I have just found it very fascinating that many cultures throughout history have all made reference to this point in time as being significant of great changes.

This thread is not intended to disprove anyone or offend anyone but rather I am interested in hearing what people have to say on the topic.

i find it odd that they are not the only 3 people to make claims such as the ones mentioned above.

I personally do not find an appeal to numbers argument all that impressive.

The year 2000 brought on a bunch of nonsensical hysteria that the world would collapse, particularly anything banking related. Per Wiki':

It was nonsense, as is the 2012 hysteria.

Or perhaps Y2K didn't happen because everyone worked so hard to prevent it.

I`m pretty sure the Cherokee didn`t even have a calender.

I`ve not seen any ancient Egyptian calenders ending in 2012.
