2024 USA PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION DAY watch party.

Making this thread so we can react live to the election results as they come in.

My boyfriend decided today that he is going to vote. I think he said that cause I told him I was feeling lazy so he said he’d vote too and we’d both go to the polls so I’m excited for that.

I’ll probably watch the live news with my dad this evening as the state results start filtering in. If I want extra entertainment, I’ll tell him I voted Harris (he is a staunch Trump supporter).

What are your plans for Election Day?

Is this going to be like that Halloween party? A lot of foolish antics and drunken revelry?

I made a post asking people to keep it friendly, but I deleted it LOL! As much as I’d love this thread to be lighthearted, something tells me that some seriousness will at the very least permeate through to this thread. I don’t think I can stop that.

I want to see what North Carolina and Georgia does. They tend to get results done fairly fast. If they go for Harris that will make sleeping easier. And now I'm curious how Iowa and Nevada vote. Both have recent polls that go for Harris. And of course Arizona. My sister lives there and she said many citizens are very anti-MAGA due to Lake and her nonsense and Trump's disrespect for McCain.

I live in AZ and I think some Trump supporters don’t like Lake cuz she is a woman ;-; at least when talking to my dad he said “Oh she just a woman who likes to put Trump’s name next to her own.” There was heavy emphasis on “woman” and I know my dad he has sexist attitudes in my opinion though I hate to say it. I wouldn’t be surprised if that attitude followed suit across more Trump supporters.

A interesting Trump ad I saw last night said “Kamala is for ‘They/them’ (as in reference to LGBT) while TRUMP is for YOU!”

I say interesting though I find the ad disgusting. It’s interesting to me though because they are just openly banking on someone’s homophobia to encourage them to vote for Trump.

I bring this up because I feel some people vote out of sexism and the such. Old farts in Arizona for example.

True, some people start to get nasty over politics. I don't know how nasty it will get, to be honest. There seems to be a certain 'recklessness' in the air.

I guess since politics affects every aspect of our lives, people tend to get emotional about the whole thing.

Not everyone is a sage who can be unattached to all ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ I think we’ll get there one day though.

I wonder how many people vote on the basis of gender, considering it even more important than their party or other political affiliations?

I’ve seen people unironically bring up a woman’s monthly period as a reason to why she shouldn’t be running things…

Though sexist people tend to know to keep their sexism to themselves, and for that reason we’d never be able to answer your question.

No doubt your dad will blow a fuse if Harris wins. Sorry dad.

"YOU" must be all the bigots and other disgusting deplorable garbage that has been referenced. Not a good ad by Trump turning off moral and decent people.

Right. I'd be disappointed if 20% of Americans supported the criminal candidate, but it's nearly half of America. I am so disappointed in this country. There's a real sickness and MAGA has no clue that they have been infected. It's like Invasion of the Body Snatchers. They look like the same person, but their minds are totally someone else.

Bigotry comes easy to simple minds. That's how MAGA took hold so quickly in the last decade.

It's gonna be a normal day for me. Calm. Second cup of coffee outside, getting some sun, watching the birds at the feeder.

No news before the polls close because until then it's just a lot of words to fill the space called "no one knows anything yet."
