Ehh.. right..
God is not wrong. His Word is not infallible.
Can you explain that second sentence a little further.
Fine...But how do we know if it was inspired of God?In other words if the holy scriptures is inspired of God then it cannot be wrong.
Fine...But how do we know if it was inspired of God?
The article is complete nonsense but I on the other hand would love to debate.Lets take the #3 hell issue first. What is spoken of in the article is based on assumptions and mistranslations. It just goes to show that no matter how educated one says they are, they will never understand God's Word, unless it is revealed to them, by God Himself, by way of holy spirit. These so called scholars,(200 professionally trained specialists) have no idea what they are speaking about.God considers the wisdom of this world foolishness.
God does not punish people by roasting them alive in a fire for all eternity.Everlasting life is a gift. Why would God burn you forever? That makes no sense, and would render Him a cruel God.God is love.Yes,if we do not follow His commands we will not inherit everlasting life. This is true. But He will not torture us.Eternal damnation really means eternal separation from or God and creator. It does not mean we will burn in hell. Those who do as God commands will inherit life everlasting. Those who do not follow His commands will not inherit life everlasting. They will be forgotten.
Here is an example of how God feels about burning people alive in fire.
Jeremiah 7:31 They have built the high places of Topheth in the Valley of Ben Hinnom to burn their sons and daughters in the fire--something I did not command, nor did it enter my mind.
Jeremiah 19:5 They have built the high places of Baal to burn their children in the fire as offerings to Baal--something I did not command or mention, nor did it enter my mind.
So we can clearly see from these two passages that God does not condone such behavior. He even says it is something that never entered His mind.
This Eternal lake of fire is a symbolic reference meaning eternal damnation by way of eternal destruction. When God refers to fire as a means of destruction it usually means total destruction. We know that it says Satan the Devil is reserved for the eternal lake of fire in Revelation 20:10.If you really think about it,physical fire and sulphur cannot harm an invisible spirit creature. This proves that the eternal lake of fire is not a real pit of fire.It is symbolic.
I see no reply.
Sorry, people don't weep and gnash their teeth in a grave.
How does one call themselves a Christian and not believe that the words written in the NT by Jesus followers are true?
You misunderstand.
In Matthew 13:41,42 it says, The Son of man will send his angels, and they will collect out from his Kingdom all things that cause stumbling and people who practice lawlessness, 42 and they will pitch them into the fiery furnace. There is where their weeping and the gnashing of their teeth will be.
This does not speak of the grave. This speaks of the symbolic eternal lake of fire. It is speaking of when the end comes, and those who did not obey God. Once they realize there is no escape, and they cannot hide, they will gnash their teeth and be weeping because they know their end has come.
According to the holy scriptures these followers of Jesus who wrote the holy scriptures were inspired by God to write by way of holy spirit. So to not agree with this would render one an Anti Christ. One who speaks against the teachings spoken of in the holy scriptures.
when Jesus talks about hell, it is clearly not a parable
Not to real Christians it didn't.It is the grave and nothing more.
Although the writings were assembled over 300 years after Christ, these writings were already in existence in the 1st century.Another thing,I never called you any names.I described the ex christians. You stated "I am a believer in God and Jesus still", so this should not apply to you, unless you are lost in darkness with no true knowledge of the holy scriptures.
Thats funny because we were just discussing that at the Kingdom Hall this sunday. You can verify scripture but it is another to question the authority.God is not wrong. His Word is not infallible.
There are many ways to prove this.
When one approaches God in prayer and begs for an understanding of His Word,He responds. If one earnestly seeks Him out, wholeheartedly,He will respond. He will bless you with grace.Once one has been blessed and they read the holy scriptures, they obtain an accurate knowledge of the truth by way of holy spirit.God allows you to understand godly wisdom. One cannot understand godly wisdom trying to use human wisdom.God bestows it upon those He chooses.
There are things in the holy scriptures that could not have been known by man alone.Knowledge that had to be given to man by His creator.
I have compiled all of the reasons that caused me to become an ex-Christian. This list hits Christianity from every conceivable angle. It may not prove it false, but it does so beyond a reasonable doubt.
