Hypothetically, if the staff created a forum for people who self-described as "Centrists" and "Moderates" in their political views, would you use it? And do you think it would be a constructive step?

I know there could be enormous debate on the exact meaning of these terms and they will vary from country to country, but RF's policy generally been to allow people who simply self-describe themselves as "conservatives", "liberals". "socialists", "libertarians", etc to use those sub-forums respectively. So, for the sake of argument, assume that anyone who self-describes as centrist or moderate would be able to use such a forum in their own right without having to justify themselves based on how other people define the position.

Any thoughts or suggestions welcome.

I voted <no> cuz I wouldn't qualify.
I like the idea of discussing things in between the extremes though.

To what end? Suppressing insights and opinions from people with strong political opinions? Making sure posters don't have to confront anything controversial or thought provoking to disturb their bliss?

Voted other.
I probably wouldn't use it, but given the other sub-fora it would seem appropriate to have a centrist one. There's currently a gap in the middle!

I think we could have a centrist forum, although people would tire of dishonest far right/left posters posing as centrist and posting there.
But attaching the word moderate to centrist would seem to imply that the left for example is not moderate. Unless you wanted to further subdivide leftist forums into moderate and extreme.

I feel like American “centrists” are either people sick of politics being so extreme or both centre left and centre right elsewhere in the world (depending on the country.)
In American politics I’m probably somewhere on the moderate scale. Perhaps “left lite.”
But here I’m considered a raging full blown leftist lol

Well, seeing as how I really don't use any political forum, I likely wouldn't use a Centrist or Moderate Only one either.

I consider myself a centrist on some topics so I might post depending on the nature of a thread.

But then again, I've considered myself a capitalist on some occasions as well.

We can't even get a nationalist forum on here but commies are allowed to have their own, so good luck with that. I'm fine with it but won't be using it as I'm fairly hard right.

No, I wouldn't use such a section, simply because I do not post in DIR or any other kinds of restricted or exclusive sections.

Would that be a term left-leaning people would use to self-identify?

Moderate = Reasonable

Extreme = Dangerous and Probably Insane
Probably not, which i think is why if you call the centrist forum the moderate forum you would have everyone posting there.

If they are going to make a centrist forum they should definitely drop the term moderate from it.
