A Question for Atheists

Cephus

Relentlessly Rational
That is not religion. That is not even quite Abrahamic religion.

According to the dictionary, that's religion. Please name a religion that doesn't have any kind of higher beings. Non-theist Buddhism, for example, is a philosophy, not a religion.

What is a higher being? Are monarchies religions, for instance?
QUOTE]

The Vatican is considered a monarchy....if I'm not mistaken.

and Christians seem to like the idea of a crown on the Carpenter's head.
(but that would be a Jewish king on a Jewish thrown!)

I would reject that as absurd. Delusional are those who believe but have no rational reason.
I didn't say irrational reason....you did
please quote more accurately....and don't overpaste your belief on mine.

Yes! But I don't believe in a personalistic God concept.
I see no reason to let others decide that your beliefs do not qualify as a religion, personally. And certainly not due to such a "lack", which is if anything an improvement.

Yeah, I am with you. I was just saying it in consternation.

If I spent my time trying to conform to what people would define me as I'd never get anything done.

I've heard rumours you can be both...ahem...

Trying to put people in boxes here!

I think that the motive here is more likely just to establish common meanings for terms. Not to categorise or dictate, but to clarify.

Christianly has nothing going for it, so whatever we come to believe isn't worth anything, its nothing but someone's belief system.

I've got one question for you.
Would you be as adamant about doubting and systematically disproving faith if Christianity wasn't the supposed dominant religion in America? Or is Christianity special?
you don't seem to know much about atheism. most aren't interested in disproving christianity or any other faith.
