Abortion and the death penalty

Abortion is an emotional topic. It is almost impossible to discuss it rationally. And abortions are going to happen regardless of the law.

Third trimester abortions are very rare, but still need to be legal. They are rare because of their high expense and women by that point almost always want the baby. But there can be issues for either the mother or the fetus that makes them necessary.

I wasn't sure what issue came up during that time. If there is an issue, then I am for it.

LOL! No, sarcasm, a typical response when someone has made a really stupid argument. Not only that my response showed how foolish your claim was.

And you will not admit the obvious. Your standards of pregnancy are not the standards of many theists of what being "pregnant" is. I can show you many sources that claim that life begins at conception and ending any conception is abortion. You know that there are people like that, I know that there are people like that. Why do you play these silly games when you are wrong. I even agreed with your standards, I merely pointed out that they are not everyone's standards.

Whoosh!!!!!

To make this short I said "Plan B One-Step within 24 hours, it is much more effective."

You said "it depends on how it works. That depends upon one's definition of what a pregnancy is. The morning after pill works three ways. If the woman has not ovulated, it prevents ovulation. If she has ovulated, it may stop the fertilization of an egg. And lastly if the egg is fertilized it prevents implantation."

I said "1. If the woman has not ovulated, it prevents ovulation. = not pregnant.

2. If she has ovulated, it may stop the fertilization of an egg. = not pregnant

3. And lastly if the egg is fertilized it prevents implantation. = not pregnant.

Hence "to stop a pregnancy before it starts".

You said "And that is why I said that it depends upon one's definition of pregnant. For what its worth I agree with your standards. The problem is that some Christians and other theists do not. They believe that the soul enters at conception"

I said "To me its not about being religious or not being religious. Either way its preventable."

You said "You missed my point. Some Christians will disagree with you on Plan B. They think that anything after conception is an abortion."

I said "Its not known when conceptions actually happens however there's a in between timeline.

Conception (when the egg is fertilized by the sperm) can take place as soon as three minutes after sex or it may take up to five days. Implantation (when the fertilized egg attaches to the uterine wall) occurs five to 10 days after fertilization—which means it can happen anywhere from five to 15 days after you had sex."

You said "some crazy reply about murder."

So now I hope you understand they don't know if the woman conceived or not and conception isn't guaranteed. They wont know if she conceived until a test is done in near 3 weeks(possibly 6 days with blood work) so by then the after morning pill "plan B" won't work anyway.
So taking the after morning pill after sex the prior night can't be abortion because sex doesn't guarantee conception and only a test can show conception.....

Unless your are thinking some christians think if you have unprotected sex, then she surely did conceive because she had sex. Which you should have said to begin with.

You should just have said your were mistaken and went on.
So WHOOSH again.

"While you may get a positive POAS test at 3 weeks, it's a good idea to wait a week or two and test again to confirm. A blood test also can detect hCG and is more sensitive than a urine test. Since it can detect pregnancy as early as 6 days after ovulation, you could be able to confirm your pregnancy at/around 3 weeks.

How Early Can You Tell if You're Pregnant?

Everything J said is just reality. You can look it up yourself. I also see it with my own two eyes. There's a huge immigrant and refugee population in my city. Personally I don't see how jumping the border and working under the table as illegal slave labor is going to help your life or why it should be lauded. They should stay in their countries and fix them. Obviously US foreign policy should change, including ending the failed war on drugs, and I try to vote accordingly.

Anyway, this is not about immigration so I'm done with that subject.
Well I'm happy to be done with it too, especially not ever having been in such a situation of being an (illegal or otherwise) immigrant (and thankful for such).

TLDR.

Once again you don't get to go Wooosh! When you have no point. But you have layered the Ostrich Defense.

Well bless your heart! :D

I will leave you with one question...

You said " Some Christians will disagree with you on Plan B. They think that anything after conception is an abortion."

The question....
If Jane Doe had unprotected sex tonight and wants to do plan B in the morning(within 24 hours after having sex), how do those "some christians" know that she convieved?

Selflessly here for you
A fundamental part of my own faith is that Man shall not judge, because Man has nor the authority or the overview required to understand that, in the end, we are either all innocent or all guilty.

But even if one does not subscribe to such a conviction, I do very much struggle to comprehend how one can be both against abortion and for the death penalty. Especially if one at the same time says one is “pro-life”.

Is there someone here perhaps who would care to explain how/why - preferably in a calm and non-offensive manner? I’d like to understand the spiritual logic behind this way of thought...
