African children horribly abused by Christian pastors

African children denounced as "witches" by Christian pastors. HuffPo.

an increasing number of children in Africa accused of witchcraft by pastors and then tortured or killed, often by family members. Pastors were involved in half of 200 cases of "witch children" reviewed by the AP, and 13 churches were named in the case files.

What is to say? Abhorent superstitious actions rooted in sheer stupidity are alive and well. I don't even know what to say. It's sickening.

I have heard this before. It is nothing less then a tragedy for all humanity that children are victims of this :(.

And to think all these problems would be solved if we just put prayer back in school and get those pesky atheists to stop forcing god out of everything.

Yes, it is indeed sad that these pastors are so misrepresenting their vocations. This is certainly not what Jesus preached.

I also heard Catholics were going into Africa, in AIDS-ridden areas preaching that Condoms don't actually work, and will get them a ticket to Hell.

Those bloody immoral Atheists ruining the World!

Not sure what to say, I don't have any proof that they weren't witches.
What?
So the accused are required to prove their innocence?

So much for the person making the claim having to support said claim.

This sounds like the "a statement is true until proven false" crap Fatihah was trying to foist in another thread....

To imply that religion has something to do with this is nothing short of common sense.

I gotta say this; with this kind of crap going on in the world churches really think they should be devoting their time and money to things like campaigning against gay marraige??

The woods are on fire and they're going around hosing down their neighbor's bar-b-que grills.

But, Quagmire, don't you realize that teh ghey is the source of all social ills? Even those perpetrated by "christians" against their co-religionists? After all, peeps like Ted Haggard wouldn't have been tempted to have hot gay secks with a rent boy if there weren't gay rent boys out there. So of course, not campaigning against gay marriage in the US means that in Africa displaced children (aka orphans, and the target of the "what you do unto the least of these" lines) are turning into "witches" (as in evil folks, not Wiccans). I mean it is totally in the latest edition of the Gay Agenda(tm)! Didn't you get a copy?

Seriously though, the reports like that in the OP are pretty disturbing. More disturbing is the lack of condemnation from evangelicals in the US associated with the churches that behave in such manner.

Sadly human genocide is nothing new.

It is one of the few tragic luxuries that're still going on today.....
