Are all religions one and the same to you?

Aye, I suppose such an assumption made me sort of ignorant in the past, dear Scots. Thanks for the response, dude.:)

I-... I do not know how to handle someone confessing so willingly to their own ignorance. Well done for being brave enough to admit it.

Hey, everyone. ^^ Peace.

Uhhh.....recently, I've been back and forth in my mind about this, but I can't really figure it out. On the one hand, I do feel like something's at the root of all of it, but simultaneously, I question whether or not the notion is misguided and runs the risk of homogenizing vastly different spheres of religious experience. What about you all? Where do you sit or stand here? Do you feel like all religions are one or do you feel the notion is misguided?
I dont believe notions are misguided... so much as.... some notions are more useful to me... or you...

My answer would be no, they're all very different to each other. What they teach, how they express their beliefs, ethics and rituals are very different and one can find a lot of contradictions.

The commonality, to me, seems to be less in the religions but rather in what led to religions. I may be wrong, but my interpretation is that people try to understand reality, forge an ethical code, find ways to improve themselves, make rituals based on valued events, and so on. Since there's so much diversity on our planet, cultures, individuals, and so on, it's no wonder that we ended up with so many different religions! I don't think there's anything wrong with this unless one tries to impose their own reality onto others.

Hope this is clear enough so that there's no misunderstandings. I'm not saying it's all invalid and fake, it's a subjective reality which is very valid, something I'm trying to find and understand for myself as well (it's not easy).

Yes, it is very clear! Thanks for your response, @illykitty. :D

No. Religions are not on equal footing.

Not when embellishment and fabrication abounds. People tend to take religion and belief seriously, so there needs to be a consistent ongoing critique among religions to keep things tempered and somewhat down to reality through a process of challenge.
