American Athiests now have their own TV-Channel

Here's a link to the online website of the Atheist TV-Channel.

Do you think this is overall a good thing or a bad thing? I think it's largely a good thing because it will annoy the fundamentalists.

If they can get enough programming to make a channel sustainable, then it might be really good. I think the key to their success will be having enough revenue to re-invest it in quality original programming. I don't know enough about Roku to know whether that's going to happen.

Considering I had never even heard of Roku until I started hearing about the Atheist TV channel, I'm doubtful it'll be successful... but I hope to be pleasantly surprised.

It's unmarketable.

Funny - if you really did think that all atheists were "neck-bearded" geeks living in their parents' basements, I would have assumed that you'd predict success for a venture that gets them to spend more time watching TV.

I guess it's only a stereotype of convenience for you, eh?

I agree -- programming will be key.

Just like books by atheists like Dawkins, Hitchens, Harris, and Dennet have been unmarketable? Or wait...they've been selling millions of copies.

Television is not books. Television is an expensive venture and the audience for it is limited. How are they going to monetize it and attract advertisers and drum up revenue?

And from the other side of the river Styx.
"Creationist leader Ken Ham lambasted the premiere of Atheist TV this week, the world’s first atheism-themed television
network, questioning why nonbelievers spend so much time and energy trying to debunk religion.

“It is incredible that atheists spend so much time, effort, and money arguing against Someone that they don’t even believe exists!,” Ham, who leads the Christian group Answers in Genesis, wrote on his blog. “Where are all their books, websites, and magazines that argue against the mythical Easter Bunny? This is because they do know God exists but they are suppressing the truth in unrighteousness.”

Ham, who added in his post that atheists are becoming more vocal at “preaching their religion of godlessness,” charged that the new TV initiative is evidence of “the growing intolerance towards Christianity in particular — and other religions.”

Hitting back against the atheist worldview, the creationist leader said that logic and rationality, in his view, definitively prove that a logical God created mankind in his image.

Sadly, this new TV channel is not just targeting adults with a hopeless message of godlessness, but they are also trying to indoctrinate children into an atheistic worldview. Isn’t it bad enough that humanistic thinking has lead to over 55 million deaths of aborted children in the U.S. alone, and now the atheistic humanists want to continue their attacks to poison and destroy the minds children who have survived the abortion holocaust."

Oh I see. It's not really television. It's just atheist creating another internet stream that can be played on your TV if you have a certain device.

It could be the biggest deterrent or the biggest catalyst for atheism depending on their show line up.

If its being run by strong atheists, I doubt it will be successful. If they are being run by weak atheists you got a shot.

Big Bang show would be a great show for the channel.

Huh....and all along I was thinking that every channel was for atheists.
Nope. If you blink your eyes at the rate of 4.5–4.75 times a second and look at the lower right corner of your screen on any channel you will detect a small subliminally hidden cross, sometimes alternating with a Star of David.

Dude, It's not real television, It's just another internet stream. It's no big deal.

Isn't that what most people what now anyway. Hulu, Netflix and such, I though real TV was dead. The youth of today watch TV on there apple products.
