An appeal for the logic of religious belief

One can't expect yossarian to give a 'rebuttal' to Super Universe's post, as his post was not an argument, but an evasion in the form of innacurate generalization.

I just asked for some proof. None has been provided.

Seems to me you athiests only have faith without substantiating evidence.

Once upon a time in the history of man gravoity was an unknown and unseen force in the physical world. Once uponj a time God was an unnamed and unseen force in the history of human society.

Once we named and saw gravity it did not change the effect upon the physical world, the discovery and the appellation were the result of changes in the knowledge base of humanity, but it was NOT a change in the history of the physical world.

It may dawn on a new day when we can SEE and NAME God as a force in the social fabric of our social world. If we do come to see and provide a more meaningful appellation to GOD, it will be a change in our base of knowledge and perception but the force will still have had an effect upon man's social world.

Does a parable help?

Here's the original quotationh:
""...the existence of an unseen force at work in human history is no less plausible and no less scholarly as an explanation for events than it is to consider the influence of unseen forces at work in the natural world (e.g. gravity)"...John S. Hatcher, The Ocean of His Words p 27

All ironic tone is the burden of the reader . . . . .

Scott

it may be unseen but it was certainly known.

Again the idea of placing god and gravity in the same category does a great disservice to god. Gravity is pervasive and felt by all and can not be denied... we all fall down.

God is quiet and sublte... and obviously not felt by all.

As the Christians might say: There is non so blind as he who will not see."

To quote Stephen King: "He thrusts his fists against the posts and still insists he sees no ghosts. . . . "
Throwing quotes at me does not make your analogy any more valid.

Yes I understand analogy... but it is a poor analogy

Gravity can me measured, studied, recreated and manipulated... picked apart and explained away.

Creator can not be measured, recreated or manipulated. The only study is personal and subjective.
