An appeal for the logic of religious belief

And you have a big mouth and need to control your tounge:rolleyes:
Hehehe. I agree. :p

Hummm... then why do I get paid for it? Any idea how hard it is to get a job as a philosophy professor? How is it possible that the monks in Thailand respect my ideas enough to seek my guidance? I'm happy to provide you with proof and a copy of my latest text book on Zen philosophy. Am I "orthodox" no, because that wouldn't be me it would be the sum of what I have learned, I like to think and discuss untried options as I am a nonconformist. Name calling is the last resort of a desperate man.
An an appeal to authority? You should know better! That, by itself, calls your credibility into question.

Yes, if it is correct. That is, "I don't know" is a more accurate answer than to assert that you know, when you don't. For example, "I don't know" is a better answer than: Hordes of enormous dustballs collected under the couch of eternity until the cosmic broom swept them into significance.

Indeed, it may be. But only one side admits this.

Ummm, I believe in a Divine Source. I don't know, but I believe. :)

I can not imagine what I have said to earn such disrespect from you. It is obvious to me if someone says the sky is blue you will find a way to discredit them and say it is pink. I'm not worried about my credibility with you not in the least I have nothing to prove to you I was simply trying to be nice and offer you a gift of a book explaining my view that is shared by many Buddhists.

I just gave a few reasons why there is a difference between gravity and God. Gravity can be measured, for one.

Everyone here always says that God chooses what He wishes to do. Not my words. When you pray to God, you don't get exactly what you prayed for, do you? Sometimes you do, sometimes you do not, sometimes you get something else. If I were religious, I would call that God's will, and I would call the results the effects. Please tell me if you think that is wrong.

And I am saying that God depends on whether you believe or not - he only works for those that believe.

You cannot say God's effects are the laws of physics, or have you dismissed God so that He is merely the Grand Unified Theory in physics? It seems quite a step down for the omniprescent Creator of the Universe.

You gave no differences. I'll tell you something you don't know, gravity comes from God. When you measure it you are measuring one tiny aspect of God.

Everyone always says that God chooses what He wishes to do? Who cares what everyone says? Are you going to make up your own mind about the world and universe we live in and become an adult who makes their own decisions or are you going to follow the crowd as they play follow their leader like geese?

When you pray to God you don't get what you prayed for? What do you think this is, a universe designed just to suit rojse's wishes? You should know by now that it's not about you. You have hands and feet don't you? If you want something make it happen, go out and get it. If you're not happy about having to work and earn things, well, that's just too damn bad. If you don't like this universe then create your own.

I can say that God's effects are the laws of physics and He is much more than a GUT Theory. He is All That Is.

There is much experimental evidence that gravity exists.

There is none that any god exists.

Prove that gravity is not an aspect of God.

Prove that energy/matter is not an aspect of God.

Prove that consciousness is not an aspect of God.

Prove that the universe is not an aspect of God.

Sigh... I could really go on and on, and on...

Narrow minds...

Sorry, guy. I simply can't take you seriously. You're a lousy philosopher and a lousy Buddhist.
And here we have yet another Ad hominem attack coming from Rolling Stone.

You can always tell when somebody’s reason has failed when instead of explaining they resort to personal attacks.

It's your patronizing. I was reading books about Buddhism when you were ten. I was, and still am, much impressed with it's philosophy/psychology. As such, it is, I think, the best the world has to offer and I was very nearly taken in by it. However, I found it lacking the full "flavor" of truth I was looking for. On the other hand, I found Western concepts of God, for the most part, pathetically primitive relative to the level of human knowledge of the material universe.

I reject all of it. The journey I'm on is between me and All that Is, in whom I live, move, and have my being.

I fixed it for you, you should really pay attention to what you type. Only an uneducated individual would even think it is a smart idea to try and prove something is false before it is proven true, but I know you would never make that mistake.

To be honest Rioku, you are doing a salsa and ballroom bance around the question. You were asked a question. A Q is normally replied by a ANSWER.

He wasn't asked a question. This was just another "prove it false" argument which is stupid and gets us nowhere.

You have a lot of anger and hate within you to spite the fact you have been reading books about Buddhism since I was 10 you either do not understand them or wish to live in misery. Don't be fooled by my age I have students 20+ years my senior. I was only trying to be nice to you because I could see how unhappy you were I never tried to patronize you It not in my nature, don't confuse kindness with patronization.

Consider this, why is anything that is not your idea "pathetically primitive relative to the level of human knowledge of the material universe".

I have not seen you put anything logical or cohesive forward yet, I have only seen you harass others and call them names.
