In all seriousness, your game has grown on me enormously since the 98 World Cup. One of the negatives for people that might be interested in soccer in the US is that the game is simply not played at the same level in the MLS (Major League Soccer) as it is in the top European leagues. While I love all our brothers from across the pond I can't get into watching teams from Manchester playing some team from Chelea or Liverpool. And Cleese makes an interesting point about creativity. The players in our brand of football have absolutely no leeway to be creative with the exception of, to a very small degree, the ball carrier looking for running lanes. Quite the contrary, the player must resist any urge to deviate from his set of instructions. It's the most complex game I've ever played or watched by far. The instructions given to each one of the 11 men both on offense and defense are so complex that it doesn't make it easily accessible for people new to the sport. One's the different positions are understood, the game transforms from being just a bunch of guys running into each other into a war, a war with a front line and different categories of weapons such as tanks, infantry, air power, etc. each complementing the other to create one cohesive unit.
