Any Superior Beings?

Twilight Hue

Twilight, not bright nor dark, good nor bad.
My dexterous hands with opposable thumbs make me superior as I can open the cans.
Otoh, the cats are faster, more nimble, have better eye sight and hearing ...
If raccoons only had bigger brains.....

I was thinking of superior and inferior in relation to mediocrity

This still ends up being subjective because it keys into values - what you think is worthy (or not worthy) of merit. Everything our culture tells us has value or merit has weaknesses and flaws in equal measure.

What makes those people superior beings?

The words vary by religion but those I would call saints, prophets, pirs, mahapurush, qutubs and so forth. To me those figures speak with Divine authority and not from the personal self.

I used to imagine that as a human being I was somehow outstanding.

I now realise that in the great scheme of things I am merely mediocre.

I think this probably applies to you too:

Yes...

You...

My ego has been deflated.

I am happy to be mediocre, it is better than being sub-normal.

I would be interested to hear from people who have reason to believe that they are a cut above ordinary people.

Any superior beings out there?

The closest I ever came to being superior was when I was swimming in Lake Superior.

I don't see other people as any better or worse than myself.
I just see them as different.

Ideally, the gods. If one accepts that they exist at all. Otherwise, superiority is a matter of perspective varying from one person to another. Some may not see things in a superior/inferior viewpoint.

First you need to define what you mean by "superior." An ant can lift many times its own weight, is it "superior" to an Olympic weightlifter? A flea can jump 100 times its own length -- how does the Olympic jumper compare? Just look at the things the tardigrade can survive -- is it "superior" to the Mayfly, that dies on the day it wakes up, mates and lays eggs?

Not everyone can be a legend.

You can, @Eddi . It is not too late. Set your sights on something, develop accordingly, learn and grow and then go out there and make it happen. Regret nothing. Achieve your dreams.
