Anyone change their mind yet about May 21st 2011?

Do you know how many times the world was supposed to end? How many names it has been given? See you on May 22nd, 2011. I'll be waiting.

Exactly one year to go!:woohoo:

:hapbirth::newyear:

I couldn’t really find the right smilie to for this auspicious “pre-anniversary”, but I thought these captured the right spirit of the occasion.

LOL, I just realize that this date is set for my sisters birth day next year. I always did think she was evil but not the cause for the end.

Is it possible, the end of the world is, this BIG BANG MACHINE they are building. Now I don't know much about physics, but splitting atoms and creating a big bang..I mean this is enormous. There is no explosion more powerful than that !!!..What if something goes wrong????????????????????

The collider they do does not create a big bang, it accelerates a gold atom and a different atom (I forgot which one) at each other at 99.9% the speed of light. This collision creates a tiny black hole for a fraction of a second. This black hole is then observed for study.

It is like the lazer beam theory, they lazer beams puncture spacetime and create an opening to another dimension.

I think it is all folly though...there is more important things here on Earth. Yea it may be interesting and cool, but it won't be cool when they mess up and cause catastrophe!!

The end of mankind is not the end of the world. As the oil-leak disaster caused by BP indicates, the rest of life on earth would be much better off w/o homo sapiens.

Nope. May 21st is spring in 2010 and it will still be spring next year.
Oh! And it also falls the day after may 20.

Nope, I've not changed my mind. :D

Even if I was wrong though, and it was the end of the world, my son is still having his 3rd year birthday party. Like I'd let a silly end of the world stop my son from enjoying his birthday. :tsk:

Thanks, but I was just curious as to why they build it so deep into the ground..hmm

Well I know the big collider is something like 50 miles in radius or something. It may be more or less, I'm not exactly sure. But I saw something on the History channel about it. Also I know that cosmic weather may have a lot to do with the interference of atoms and solar winds may cause the atoms to disintegrate before being collided.

Bu then there is always the fear of an actual black hole enveloping the Earth. But I don't think that is possible :D.
