Apparently Kavanaugh has the votes he needs secured.

What? Me worry?
So now we'll just have to wait and see what threat if any he actually poses to reproductive choice, gay marriage, and other rights and freedoms as many have feared.

Never any doubt even with the last minute circus BS the Democrats cooked up.

You're in ATV? Palmdale? Lancaster?
Porterville for now, then I'll be moving to Bakersfield for the time being. I'll probably stay there, get my MSW from Fresno, and then go on to either LA or San Fransisco with my Master's.
I'm also not sure what ATV is in this context.

Then it is time to move on and try to make something positive from this. I still have a huge problem with how the Democrats sprung this at the last moment. They are the main ones to blame for a lack of an investigation. They still came off looking better than the Republicans and this could lead to a flipping of the Senate. That should be their current goal.

Bakersfield? Have you ever visited there? I have and now drive by without stopping :) Fresno has some problems but parts of it not bad at all. Good luck.

A bit, and it's where my job is. I was looking at Fresno, but Bakersfield has more transgender-related services - the crime rates, even if Fresno, are pretty similar to where I was in Indiana so that's not much of an issue to me (though there is less rape around here).

I am a Hillbilly so what's your point?
That you didn't have much of a point and all we have to do is change the word because "what a ghetto thing to say" is just absurd. I've never lived in a ghetto, and even I think "here come the liberals" sounds redneck. Or it sounds like a typical Hoosier thing to hear when you're in a trailer park surrounded by unmotivated and unemployed trash who have no aspirations beyond leaching off the system they love to criticize even though it supports their drunk, lazy asses.

Actually I did have a point and if EBM replies we will work it out. As far as the last part of your post it actually describes me to a "T".

While "the Liberals" go to college and get higher earning jobs that pay into that system the most.

That's great if you can find a more supportive community there. Home is where the heart is, as the saying goes. And I am sure Bakersfield is not all bad; I am just a bit biased because of some bad experiences I had there many years ago. :)

It will be refreshing, I'm sure.
Don't get your hopes up.
I don't think Supreme Court Hearings will be
as abusive & provocative as the sex hearings.
I'll wager you left one that he'll behave more
as he has on the DC Appeals Court.

At this point I'm just taking things in from my own perspective. I've noticed a lot of people around here tend to talk about Visalia and Bakersfield like a lot of people talk about Kokomo back in Indiana. Maybe to them it's the pits, but to me there are live theaters for actual plays, art studio days, and more life in the cities - rural Indiana on the other hand is a ton of bars and churches and it lacks signs of any culture greater than a McDonald's every few miles. Back in Indiana I also never got to see anything like the sight of Bakersfield at night off in the distance (I was at the Tejon outlet plaza thingy the other night) - Northern Indiana is mostly too flat for that and the cities not big enough.
I've also went from petting cows to pass the time to finding causes I care enough about to volunteer for. But that is the standards I come from. Farms, fields, and nothing to care about.

Hello. I have some family in the Visalia area which is the only reason I still visit CA. It has grown really fast over the past couple of decades. I mean fast! On balance that has not been a good thing. Overall the people are nice there though, I don't mind visiting. But it is not a place I could live - too hot and dry for my tastes. I wish you well.
