I honestly think if a a all powerfull deity wrote a book on how he wanted his people to live it would be obvious by words alone.
The problem is that oblivious always trumps obvious.
No there are plenty of books out there that have helped people look for God, become better people, and ultimately find God. So no, not all diety's are illiterate or fakes. They wouldn't be true dieties other wise. Some are actually God Realized and serve as a pure channel to spread God's true message. Yogananda my Guru is one of many. Read his books and wonder no longer of the lack of literacy and understanding in some dieties.
Then address their God, not "all Gods."why?
that represents the majority of religions, what roughly 4B of 6B peopel follow it. im trying to fair in my distribution and I also wont talk down to deitys and religions I dont know.

OF course not. Some of their followers have, though.Have the other gods written anything???

Not quite. I argue that they're so intelligent we couldn't understand anything they wrote.thats fine, im not picking on them or their words.
You make a better case for gods being illiterate then I do
You state they could be so intelligent writing is beyond them.
Jews and Muslims are rather into their animal sacrifice. Old habits die hard I guess.
i dont find yogananda to be a specialist on deity's, so i did not respond so as not to insult your belief.
I dontbuy phrases like "God Realized"
there are plenty of books out there that have helped people look for God, then I say every one is a failure because has anyone truely found god??? or just thought they did???
I think you ignored this brother. The fact is this God Realized soul wrote many books that meet your qualifications. His guides are for everyone and are sure fire ways to live in the highest way. He also gives us all the truths we ever need. They are modern, straight forward, and anyone can understand his works.
Then you have not read his works, believe them, or understand them. If you don't buy phrases as God Realized then you will never buy the possibility of a works that will allow you to become God Realized. If that is the case then what are you even creating this thread for if you have already made up your mind?
Also yes many have found God including my Guru. He has gathered many souls to the shores of God as well and they know. It's beyond thought once they have for it is a true experience. If you don't believe this then I'm wasting my breath and won't waste any of each others time anymore. Don't say there aren't any worthwhile works out there if you haven't looked hard enough. I have just given you one that you so easily disregarded I assume without really looking into it.
I've been reading his commentary on the Bhagavad-Gita, and it's fine, save for his metaphysical claims, which I find hard to believe. While I very much enjoy the work now, when I first picked it up, I laughed at it, comparing it to the ramblings of former WWF wrestler Ultimate Warrior. I think your current target audience would do the same.
Not to mention, his claims are purely anecdotal, which isn't scientific.
Don't get me wrong. I'm really finding great inspiration in his writings, now that I've stopped scoffing at his work, and am trying to stop scoffing at everything I immediately disagree with without first trying to see where they're coming from. I'm just trying to explain to you that not everybody will find the same inspiration in the work as you do.
thats why I ignored your post, im a atheist and did not want to insult your belief.
you asked again so I offered my thoughts
did I once say there aren't any worthwhile works out there???? I still find positive aspects of religion's
has your deity/god ever penned a word or phrase or book [that is verifiable and not self proclaimed] ???
Well his metaphysical claims are based on his personal experience with the divine. You have to have faith that what he writes is true. It's very hard to write a book on the divine and be utterly scientific in the world today. So whether you choose to believe what he writes is up to you but it doesn't mean he is wrong just because you choose to scoff at it.
To totally understand the works of an enlightened being you would have to be one in most cases. I've always thought his works have always been straight forward as they can be. Sure they are metaphysical but isn't that what most unknown things about God are? His works are probably like what the bible was when back in those days. Some chose to believe it and some just couldn't believe it. Some are ready for it and some are not. Doesn't necessarily mean you are wrong. Maybe it's just not for you or your path.
I'm happy however that you actually gave it a try and have read his other works.
