Are You Ever Wrong?

Some Christians on forums such as this seem to think that they have the right of it and everyone not sharing their view is completely wrong. Don't you have an doubts at all that you just might have got it all wrong?

One thing I am very good at is doubt! I could be completely and utterly misguided in my sceptism about the Bible being anything to do with God! God help me if I am wrong; I better check out asbestos underwear as I am heading for a firey eternity!:D

You´re not alone. i allways have my doubts. To me it is not important to be right in the first place. Understanding is much more important to me.

I'm positive I'm wrong about some, if not many things even about my own faith. God knows all things, not me ;), and I always prey that he gives me wisdom to know more, but I would never think that I knew everything about anything, especially religion.

I am perhaps one of the only ones on RF would openly states "I could be wrong". I don't quite know why others cannot say that. It is a puzzle that seems to be linked to undoubted faith. Heck, if I don't doubt what I am gleaning about reality, my thinking will get bogged down in the mud of delusion before too long.

I have great respect for those that say they might be wrong, because none of us can possibly know for sure that we are right.

I think its just hard for people to say that they are wrong.

it makes it look like the other person " wins". we don't want to look like we " lose " an arguement.

thats why i am never wrong! LOL.. wink , wink

It is certain I and every one else is largely wrong in our beliefs about God.
Is this important? I am sure it is not ...Is it likely that at our last, he will set a test on our knowledge about him?...
As A Christian I have simplified my beliefs to the extent, that many believe will surely reserve me a place in Hell.
From my point of view the more complex a belief is, and the more it relies on ancient and uncertain traditions the less likely it is to be wholly correct.
My faith is based on the teachings of Jesus that do not contradict the concept that God is Love.
There are stories written in the New Testament about the life and words of Jesus that do not match this criteria. I have no problem attaching, Not proven or probably wrongly reported. to them.

Am I wrong ? I could be... do I expect to be judged on this?... No

It is not only Christians who "think they are right all the time", I happen to know that there are people with that mentality in a variety of faiths and religions, and the non-religious. I see this everywhere.

No one is right all the time. I don't recall many people saying they are always right. There are certain people in the world who are "never wrong". It is really hard to debate with someone like that because he or she will make it feel as though no one else's opinion is valid.

I certainly wished I knew everything, but since I don't I have to struggle along with what I believe to be true, same as everyone else. ;)

You are not the only who admits he may be wrong. I know I have said it before and a lot of others, too- that we may be wrong.

The one thing I never stop learning, is that I am always wrong. And this "don't know" mind is what I'm trying to cultivate.

I'm never wrong. It isn't my fault if sometimes reality is too stubborn to conform to my perception of it.

There is one way to never be wrong - don't believe anything. Or you can be like me and change your beliefs almost daily or at least everytime you hear or read a new idea. Like a clock that is stopped, I should eventually be right at least once. So no I do not think I am always right.

Constantly. But I retain faith what matters most is what we do for others in this life, not whether or not we held the right theology.

And as others have said, it isn't only Christians who are certain they are right.

Maybe others don't take quite as much pride in their humility.
