Well enough, and you've a respectable approach to these things (as I've noticed in general from your responses to others' queries). I think I'll leave the response as it lays, as any commentary on my part would be better suited for a discussion-based forum, not someone's interview thread. :D
If you make the thread I would be more than happy to talk a bout it. I'm not adverse to different opinions.

Good thing you understood what I said up there. I thought it was in screwy English. (I'm an Arab)
I'm Irish and I have my fair share of people not able to understand me. I was born and raised for most of me life in America but my mother (and especially my father) had strong accents so I picked it up.

Cool. I like the Irish accent :)

But due to my language background, I can't distinguish between Irish and Scottish accents. Both sound cool nonetheless.

You gotta check out @Revoltingest and his accent btw. You won't miss him, he goes around RF wearing some funny looking skirt :)

My accent is pretty light. Its just certain words and when I get angry. I curse in a very very heavy Irish accent (tells ya what I picked up as a child). Me mums Catholic its funny to me because I don't hear her accent but everyone else says she is like a movie character.

I will be one of the few who admit that to an ear not versed in Irish or Scottish accents they may sound similar. Rule of thumb is if it sounds "sing-song-y" its Irish and if it sounds harsh and angry its Scottish.

Your mom must be a really nice person if people give such friendly remark about her :)

Hey, that's a good advise there, thanks for the heads up. Now I know why @Revoltingest always looks so angry (just look at his avatar :tearsofjoy:).

First of all, I've been lurking this thread for a bit, and wanted to say welcome to RF. Hope your enjoying this place. I really liked your responses, very interesting read and quite courageous to put yourself out like this.

Now my question, since I'm always interested in expanding my library of religious books, is there any books you particularly love about witchcraft and Celtic paganism? Also, out of curiosity about covens (perhaps it's my social phobia speaking), is it difficult to join one?

Thank you for responding. :)

To be honest I don't think anyone can simply learn it from books. There are some books to learn but mostly it is a spiritual journey and having a good teacher both in the solid information about Wicca and a spiritual leader that can help you grow and be a mentor to you is best.

Scott Cunningham is held in high regard and I have a few of his books. The Truth About Witchcraft Today was an interesting read that held a lot more truth in most books I've read. I also own his Cunningham's Encyclopedia of Crystal, Gem, and Metal Magic.

Finding a coven is incredibly hard. You can try some online resources such as witchvox. On some pagan social groups and forums they have a "location" thread but they only go off of the demographics of who is already one the site. I find that Universal Unitarian churches may often have Pagans who can be a good link to finding a coven. Not every gathering of pagans are covens and covens is a strictly witch thing.

Now once you have found a coven (usually a real coven will invite you without your knowledge of its existence though this may just be my experience) then you usually go through the year and a day training before initiation during the first full moon or sabbat thereafter. I won't get into what training you are to do or what the imitation is. Partially because it is held secret in many covens and partially because it differs from coven to coven.

I will give some warning signs. There are bad covens out there. There are covens that spread misinformation and use people. If there is anything regarding required sexual rites or anything you are uncomfortable with you need to leave. Imaginations fixated on the occult have warped views and can lead to abusive or even dangerous situations. I wouldn't say this is all covens but it has happened enough for me to warn you. I think you will be able to recognize a good coven when you meet it. There will be an energy of acceptance rather than fear or mistrust.

Ah one last thing. If you were to go to a new age store in your area feel free to ask the owner or manager if they know of anyone. If there are witches in your area they will probably be scouting for a good place to buy supplies and new age stores tend to be those places.

Question: If you have a home altar, could you describe what is usually on it?
What additional items do you put on your altar (if you do) on special days, and what days are those?
I am especially interested in statues representing actual beings or personifications of nature, and in natural objects like willow, cedar, water, etc.

Two candles. An oil burner, an altar cloth, my cauldron, athame, incense and then holiday decorations. right now pine needles and holly.

A) How do you skin animals alive without them singing Wizard of Oz tunes
B) How do I force politicians to do their job.
C) Do I use black or white magic to put a curse on the KKK.
D) How many witches does it take to screw in a light bulb.

That is all I want to know for now :D
