Nietzsche you either are an encyclopedia on Nazi history or you are a total genius at making it sound like you are. This is an absolutely fascinating thread. One of the most interest I've read on RF

To be honest, someone like you giving me this praise is much more meaningful than others, simply because of how very little we agree on. Thank you very much.

What are your opinions that Nazi Germany was essentially run by Rule by Decentralized fear. After reading Viktor Klemperer's volumes I Will Bear Witness, it started to seem as though most German people disagreed with Nazi Rule, and with the Holocaust/War (although the two have little to do with each other). But since they had no idea who was a sympathiser, agent or undercover officer, people simply kept schtum for fear of saying the wrong thing to the wrong person.

Depends on what year it is. Hitler's sheer popularity cannot be overstated between 1933 to 1941/42, and even then it wasn't until '43 that Hitler was personally associated with the mounting failures of the regime. There was a saying at the time(33-43 or so) that went "if only the Fuehrer knew", regarding Nazi policies that were unpopular with the German people. The average German was certain that their Fuehrer could not possibly have known about anti-Christian acts done by lesser party members or the euthanasia order, so on and so forth.

What was the problem between Franco and Hitler?
Franco wanted far too much, specifically all of French Morrocco, some of French Algeria, and a portion of the French fleet. Hitler wasn't interested in further alienating France.

with all due respect, I can't accept this kind of explanation. You know, this doesn't explain why he deported also Italian Jews who had nothing to do neither with Germany nor with the Banking system.
There are a lot of sources that explain Hitler's hatred for the Jews as a people. I would take a look at his own book, Mein Kompf, to get somewhat of an inside look.

Hitler had written and spoken of making all of Europe Jew-free, although not at first.

I figure most of the Jewish people wish that book were forgotten entirely.

Truth be told, it has barely any use beyond as a window into the thoughts of Hitler and, to a lesser degree, the people of his time.

But, that is precisely what was asked about.

I agree. Then again, I did not lose family and friends to the angry speaker, so I am somewhat less disgusted by the idea of reading his words than the typical Jew would be.
