Paul, I get the impression that you are most certainly not a fool, and that you have experienced more than a lot of people of your...erm...."maturity".

I get the impression that you are empathic, and ready for whatever comes into your mind - you don't reject any idea (however absurd it may sound) without having a damn good think about it. Have you experienced what I would call "brief glimpses" into other dimensions ? - or, atleast, are you aware of having done so?

How are you doing? :)

I was going to ask you in a PM... but this was more convenient since i saw it first. :D

Why, exactly, are you such a devoted supporter of Al Gore?
LOL. Most likely it would be to demonstrate that even an old grizzled cuss like me has a sense of humor. :flirt:

Sadly no. This is a very sensitive area for me and so I'll answer like this... Whoever said it is better to have loved and lost was completely out of their mind. It's probably the most painful thing one can experience. Maybe I'll send you part 3 of my family history. Then you might understand. It's a pretty sad story, so you'll need a box of kleenex. I know I will.

Beats me. Maybe I put it in the wrong place. Maybe it got moved when they shuffled the forums about. I dunno, lol.

I think because it is in this section is why I haven't seen it until today.

YmirGF,

This is a really silly question but I am curious. What’s up with the name? Is it a reference to Norse mythology? In which case what is up with the GF? Or is it something else entirely?

Where did I go?

I have a new computer and have been busy setting it up just spiffy. I am testing burning DVD's as well and that is a lot of fun... BUT SLOW... Plus I am analysing my loss of MP3's due to a Raid failure. Long story short, never use a RAID configuration and I have a lot more MP3's than I realized. (7.6GB give or take).

C'mon! Specs :) + Music you don't have/lost that you want... I can put my Christmas elves on the case.

Wow, I sure haven't looked at this thread in a very long time. Since the other threads currently running are so incredibly boring, I may as well answer some of these neat questions.

I get the impression that you are empathic, and ready for whatever comes into your mind - you don't reject any idea (however absurd it may sound) without having a damn good think about it. Gee Michel, I do tend to think things through fairly well. What drives people around me crazy is that I focus on the negative aspects of an idea first, get them out of the way and then move on to the positive aspects and finally neutral aspects.

In regards to "brief glimpses" into other dimensions, the answer is yes. Fully the first third of my autobiography is devoted to this aspect of my adventures, so it is pretty bizarre reading. The thing is, my experiences were so incredible, I had to write them down. Even if I consider them to be weird blips of intense imagination they are still utterly unlike anything I have read anywhere else. And yes, I was completely aware of what I was doing as I was doing it and that is what allowed me to keep meticulous notes of my adventures.

This is the name I have been known as since my first baby steps onto the net way back in the original Diablo days. For some time, I was simply Ymir. Then I joined a online gaming guild called House of the Golden Falcon. GF stands for Golden Falcon, so it is somewhat of a nostalgic reason for keeping it, as it was a period of great fun that has rarely been rivalled since.

My first mention of "satanic hampsters" also originated in a game of Diablo while three players were all "in town" and just yapping. It was a rather hilarious thing that came out of my head in mid stream. It was an idea I loved the moment it hit. I actually paid an artist to create an image of a satanic hampsters and it was quite amusing.

YmirGF, do you believe that love conquers all?
Actually Connor, I don't believe in conquering anything. To me the idea that love conquers is almost an oxymoron.

To speak plainly, I do not believe in the idea of loving everyone, as I feel that it is a psychological impossibility. At best, I go with neutrality and don't harbor grudges.

Ah Crispy one, I have already managed to recoup my losses. It is quite unlikely that you would have some of the treasures that are now lost forever, but as I say, I now have far more and all on DVD's for backup. Thanks for the thought though.

Violet.
As the Buddhists will tell you, I say also, you must strip away the preconception about reality in order to perceive reality AS IT IS. I cannot stress enough that once you get past THINKING how things ought to be... you begin to see things as they in fact might actually be.

And as well... how people have always told you, and tell you "IT IS". ;)

So for a question...
This idea of "seeing things as they in fact actually might be."
Can you elaborate from your own personal experience,
what some of these "things" are that you have seen?,
When getting beyond the THINKING of "how things ought to be",
or "what you have always been tought they ARE"?

Don't forget, real geeks like me use specs as means to survive. We don't need food, we need specs..
