Atheists and God

MW0082

Jesus 4 Profit.... =)~
That article is a bunch of hogwash, it's not even an article. It's a paper on someones personal values and opinions with no substance what so ever.....

Didn't have to read past the opening sentence to know the whole thing would be crap. But it is nice to have such warnings right up front---the only "good" thing about it.

I found it rather amusing that theists are complaining about atheists "shoving their views down our throats."

Hahahaha. It's so funny, you see, because that's exactly what theists have been doing for hundreds of years.

BTW, genius ToE is scientific theory. It is - as is ALL of science - silent the question of god(s) existence.

I guess the debate continues

from the link:
What Richard Dawkins and atheists are lacking is a personal relationship with God. They are missing out on the pure joy we as Christians have with our relationship with God. They have never truly experienced what it is to have a relationship our Lord.

I think that ended the debate.

Good article to read. What is everyones thoughts?

Athiests and God | Relijournal
....Why do they find it necessary to shove it down our very throats that there is no God?......All one has to do is look around them and see the proof that God is everywhere.......For some reason atheists are in a war to remove God from society. You see it in our schools where prayer has been banned, and where evolution is taught over creationism......They seem to want God taken out of every aspect of society.......they are working at the hands of the enemy and they don’t even know it.....What’s even funnier is they don’t have the slightest idea that God loves them even though they don’t believe in him. They are misguided by today’s society and the world around them.....Something may have happened to them which made them turn their backs on God and they came to the notion that God does not exist because of that.....atheists are lacking is a personal relationship with God.......

That's quite a fanciful condemnation of us heathens. Did you talk to many of us before writing it?

Btw, many of us never had a bad experience with religion....we just never had any religion to begin with.

I guess the debate continues

With all due respect, the material referred to doesn't really attempt to generate or 'continue' a good faith debate on the subject. For one thing (among many), it makes undue generalizations about atheists. It might be true that some militant atheists would like to see theism disappear. It might be true that there are some atheists who are literally 'waging a war' against theism, as the article stated. I would not doubt that. However, primarily atheists are merely thoughtful skeptics who refuse to accept something as 'true' based on something as faulty as faith. It's not that they are attempting to destroy concepts of gods whereever they encounter them; they merely lack the sort of proof required to satisfy their own mind that gods exist.

I don't know whether or not you're a theist. Perhaps you are just trying to stir a thoughtful debate on the subject of God's existence and simply chose really poor material to do that. But, if you are a theist (try to imagine yourself as such if you're not), would you consider it a fair and honest attempt at debate if some atheist selected one particular branch of theism, one single concept of God (let's say the Universe People's Church of Cosmic Light which teaches that a Divine Presence orbits the Earth in a Spaceship), and then argued against that theistic concept as if every theist held those same beliefs and convictions? That is sort of what the article in your OP did, or so it seemed to me.

"There are many out there nowadays saying they have proof that God does not exist. They use theory of evolution as one source of their claim."

^^^Ignorance.

No, Biological Evolution has nothing to say about the existence or non-existence of God.

Why do they find it necessary to shove it down our very throats that there is no God?
Why do Christians find it necessary to shove their concept of God down everyones throats?
See how ridiculous and overgeneralized that sounds?

Very simple, they can’t prove they are right.
There is no need to prove a negative. If they see no evidence of God, it is perfectly reasonable to assume no God exists.

For some reason atheists are in a war to remove God from society.
How can one remove what one does not believe exists?

You see it in our schools where prayer has been banned,
May students pray together in public schools?
Yes. Students are free to pray alone or in
groups, as long as the activity is not disruptive
and does not infringe upon the rights of others.
These activities must be truly voluntary and
student-initiated. For example, students are
permitted to gather around the flagpole for
prayer before school begins, as long as the event
is not sponsored by the school and other
students are not pressured to attend. Students
do not have a right to force a captive audience.

and where evolution is taught over creationism.
In Science class and biology. Creationism is a religious subject.
There is no scientific evidence supporting Creationism or ID.

The rest of your article is equally baseless claptrap that assumes Atheists are working for Satan unwittingly and they all need to come back to God.

But thanks for the laugh...

I just find it so ironic that religious people have persecuted those who believe differently than them for centuries, and the moment somebody simply states "Hey, I actually don't think God exists", it is the atheists that are shoving their beliefs in their faces. Wah, wah, wah.

The article manages to blend syncretism with ethnocentrism, which is unusual and odd.

It's also self-promoting and I get the impression that the author (the OP) has had little discussion with actual atheists.
