Hey lets just agree to disagree, lets not get uptight about it at all.

what, can't take the heat?
first you make these generalizations and when you find that your unsupported claims faces opposing views, you want to agree to disagree...?
well let me tell you something chief, your little blog isn't saying lets agree to disagree is it...

how lame

LOL . . . Hey, man, I'm cool with that. Besides, I am not really an atheist, so I could care less what you say about 'em. (Psst, as a matter of fact, don't tell 'em I said so, but a lot of 'em are jerks)

But I believe you are going to find it a bit difficult to make a graceful exit after lobbing that verbal hand grenade into the room. It is one thing to say something like, "Hey, so you don't like Barry Manilow and I believe 'Mandy' was one of the greatest songs ever written. I suppose we'll just have to agree to disagree." It is completely another matter altogether when you write/post an article that claims all atheists are the unwitting agents of what you believe to the be primary source of evil and cruelty in the world. That kind of claim is harder to just let pass. But we're cool, man.

Although this article is generalizing all atheists, I believe that the outward expressions of our world and this universal creation is more than enough evidence for me that God exists. Not to mention everything else I have experienced inwardly and outwardly. For the most part I agree with this article.

Look, as an atheist there is only one thing you can say about me with certainty: I don't assert a belief in God. What you actually said was that I am immoral and partially responsible for many bad things. I don't think you can smooth things over with "let's just agree to disagree". Frankly, I think you owe us an apology.

Nothing about taking the heat at all. You either believe or you don't, so how do you argue with that? Life is too short to spend it arguing about something.

I guess I will just turn the other cheek... Because frankly I could care less chief.

I said that? Really? Gee I don't remember saying that at all. And I am not the one getting all hot and bothered about this. You are! I owe no apology and I don't expect one either.

well, lets see here
it was the religious right that
1. supported slavery
2. were pro segregation
3. anti bi-racial marriage
4. sexist
5. opponenets to same sex marriage

so basically i will make the same claim, christians are self appointed mediators between human rights and their religious belief...
you either believe it or not...right captain?

If they want to debate it, then they should make a post that counteracts the blog. Then it can come up for debate. I mean really its an opinion from a point of view. Lets have a point of view from the other side. Otherwise, its not worth the bother.

Yes... you care so little about this issue that you wrote an article about it and invited us all to read it. :sarcastic

Did I say I was the religious right? Yes, I believe in God and so what? Supported Slavery? What century are you living in? Pro-Segeration? The Majority either Religious or non did not support segeration. Bi-racial Marriage? Unless you are in the KKK then again no. Sexist? Yes I will give you that (hard point to argue) but not all. Same sex marriage? I could care less if a same sex couple wants to get married. Its not a concern of mine and is not might right to pass judgement on that as well.
I do not support any of those claims and I am a Christian.

So captain is there anything else you want to tell me about myself? I really want to know

Have you even bothered to read the replies in this thread? Almost everybody picked one aspect of the blog that they thought particularly ridiculous, and provided a reason why it was erroneous. At the very least, you have to contend with the most egregious problem of all: Atheists are a very diverse group- the only thing that's binding us together is that we believe that god doesn't exist- and what might be true of one isn't necessarily true of all.

Done here.
I read the first sentence:

There are many out there nowadays saying they have proof that God does not exist. They use theory of evolution as one source of their claim.

At that point is was obvious that the author didn't know his *** from a hole in the ground, so I didn't bother to go on.

For you, nature may be enough to convince you of God's existence. For me, the jury is still out. Nature is awesome and complicated enough without hypothesizing the existence of something even more awesome and complicated.

So, you agree that:
  • The theory of evolution has any bearing whatsoever on whether God exists or does not exist
  • That atheists are cramming their views down theists throats (a strange complaint seeing the trackrecord of theists...)
  • You think that administration-led prayer in school was a good thing and should not have been banned.
  • You believe that creationism should be taught in a science class, as opposed to evolution
  • You believe that atheists are responsible for crap tv.
  • You believe that atheists are unwittingly working for Satan.

Christians in America are mercilessly persecuted. We are like Jews in Nazi Germany. They wont let us pray in the schools, they call us all kinds of names like bible thumper and holy roller and now they want to make gospel preaching a hate crime but our God will get us the victory. We have endured much for the gospel but take heart. Jesus said the world hated him and they will hate us too. The hour of his second coming is at hand and soon we will be with him in heaven. Our God is an awesome God. Amen.

Ok, I see your point. However another poster was making statements that those who believe support slavery, are anti gay etc...

So in that same respect that posters aspects are just as ridiculous.

Thats your opinion. You see you are just as bad when it comes to something you believe or don't believe in. The same could be said about you in any claims you make. Its all a matter of opinion.
