What did you didgeridoo?
Heh...that reminded me of this old (short) comedy bit from a transplanted American about Australian snakes and then words...
From about 2.30 is the part that your post reminded me of...lol

Hmm..can't find a version I can embed. Bugger.
Google this if you are interested, but I understand if you don't.

Now before you guys go off, the title is purely tongue in cheek. I mean nothing by it.
Just having a go, as we Aussies say ;)

But as I’m not American, I’m curious as to your thoughts on this video. It’s an American currently living in Sydney, comparing the two countries and giving her opinion on a few things the Aussies do better than the US.

Thoughts? Comments? Opinions?
There are lots of videos on YouTube from US citizens living abroad in a lot of countries. And a lot of them are not only pointing out the differences but explain why it is better than living in the US. It could be that the algorithm doesn't think I'm interested in the reverse but there are no videos in my feed where people from Europe explain why it is better to live in the US.

Consider this, lots of Americans, when they find people saying it's better here, the people saying that tend to be from third world countries who are too poor to afford to pay attention and usually ran by a dictator. And it tends to be Republicans and Conservatives putting those statements on a pedestal.

Informative. I think all of the other developed nations should put out this type of video.

Australians are better at calling Burger King Hungry Jack’s than America ( and all other countries).

They are also better at not having Starbucks in the airports meaning you can go to some artisan coffee shop and get a small tea for the price of a large tea instead :pensive:

These are all true, however this is the deal breaker, the Aussies have no clue what mayonnaise is and you can't find Blue cheese salad dressing anywhere. They also call french fries chips but that is just a minor annoyance.

They are Belgian fries and i call them chips too

@SomeRandom , my wife & I almost moved to Australia back around 1970 because teacher demand was so high there. It was a great offer, but we decided not to because we would have had to move away from our families for 5 years and we simply couldn't afford to pay to go back & forth.

I'm not sure when you came here or which part, but...

Typically where I live you'll get either whole egg mayonaise or kewpie (lots of Asian food).
Beerenberg blue cheese salad dressing is available at Woolworths. That's our largest supermarket. There are other brands available, just indicating it's easy enough to get.
And guilty re : chips. We also call potato crisps 'chips' just to confuse things...lol.

Unless you go to Maccas, of course. Then they're French fries.
You still got Woolies?!

Treating it seriously, I agree with her on the following.

Student loans
Paid vacation
Sales tax as part of the price
Trade schools
Drinking at 18
Pensions

She's right about the metric system too, but I'm too old to change.

I think most Americans realize that the metric system is superior. They just don't want to deal with the hassle of transitioning.

I don't know...I'm not sure a country with 6 foot tall hoping rats where absolutely everything, in and out of the water, wants to kill you isn't pretty much on a par with the USA... I mean the British did not make it a penal colony because it was a nice vacation spot :D

Phhht....
You can't trust the British. We had to wait a generation of two before we could fully evolve, become less British and make things better.
