My avatar is Lightning, the main character from Final Fantasy 13.

I choose her because she's tough, analytical, and serious, and because I was playing Final Fantasy 13 at the time.

I would like to display my own picture, but these days I have a firm policy of not putting my picture online.

She has a very adrogynous look. I like it! I’ve only ever played Final Fantasy XII but I really enjoyed that.

My avatar is a actually a picture I took last summer while climbing Mount Timpanogos with a good friend of mine. It was around 10 in the morning, and seeing the sun climb over the majestic expanse of green forest inspired me. The picture symbolizes my love of nature and the beautiful thoughts it generates. As for my screen name, it is actually part of an anagram of my real name I made online. It amused me greatly, so I chose it for my screen name.

I think it depends on the specific picture. She's fairly tom-boyish in terms of looks, voice, and personality, but when playing the game, her gender is obvious. They basically just designed her to be a female equivalent to Cloud from FF7.

As for the Devil May Cry series, Dante, Nero and Virgil are clearly all males. Just, er, stylish males.

One can tell from the body build and strong chin that he's male. They knew how to make him look all anime-like without looking girly.

I changed my avatar to a different depiction of Moses, one by Michelangelo. The reason for the horns on his head is because Michelangelo mistranslated a passage describing Moses, the passage talked about rays of light shining down on Moses, but Michelangelo translated it as horns on his head.

It's not a mistranslation, actually, because no–one knows what the original word used means specifically. I recall reading about that in a book.

My avatar is a colorized version of what is known as "the Flammarion engraving".

The Flammarion engraving is a wood engraving by an unknown artist. It is called "Flammarion" because its first known appearance was in a nineteenth-century book by Camille Flammarion.

I have used this avatar here, and at many other sites, because I view it as depicting the seeker whose quest has allowed him to finally "break through" and see that which is beyond normal perception. I'd like to say that I am such a person, but I'm not. I'm still searching.
