Bands We Haven't Heard Of

Meshuggah - a really difficult listen. Their riffs are kind of mechanical and vocals that are slightly harsher than the Nu Metal roar but not quite Death. Incredibly progressive though with long songs with such weird twists and turns that they are one of the most interesting bands to listen to. I would suggest their EP "I" which has one track of 20 minutes.

Crowbar - Doom metal with faster thrash bits.

Lamb Of God - Okay not that unheard of but they are so amazing. Highpoint has to be the drum solo in Ruin

The Locust - Noisecore. Short, fast (and I don't mean fast in the conventional sense) and amazing live but difficult to listen to casually. Still with albums of 30+ tracks, I'm not complaining .

A Perfect Circle - I don't know what these guys are. They remind me of Tiamat in places but are a little bit lighter so I guess they are kind of Gothic Metal but not really lol.

Raised Fist - The punk side of hardcore. Very unique voice and the catchy (for hardcore) tracks keep it from going stale to quickly.

Oops I listed 6 lol. Oh well.

In Flames is amazing but I wouldn't exactly call it unheard of being at the forefront of its field with the possible exception of Soilwork ;). Master Virgil, Liquid Tension Experiment rocks so so much! I was just listening to them :).

Lol I like the description of Nightwish as "beautiful metal" :). It does suit it well.

hooray for music! I'm currently in the process of putting it all into MP3 CDs but I don't think I have enough CDs lol!!!

Done here.
I don't think I can name five that nobody else has heard of. Some I wish were better known:

Johnnyboy and the Mustangs
Little Charlie and the Nightcats
Saffire - The Uppity Blues Women
Confederate Fagg
The Dry Branch Fire Squad

Wow, with the exception of Jensa's and a few of PW's lesser known little bands, I've heard of pretty much every band mentioned (at least the majority of them).

To name just a few.

I know Lamb of God toured with Children of Bodom, who I was going to mention, but I know at least a few members have heard of them.

A Perfect Circle is actually fronted by the lead single of Tool and their music does resemble a more rockish Tool sound. I approve.

Wow, you've heard of Eye C Snakes?? I must tell my friend! (He's the drummer.) They are a local pittsburgh band, and I'm sure he would love to know you've heard of him.

Wow, I know most of the bands mentioned. o.o Which, well, surprised me. XD I love all music from pop to country to rock to death metal and back.

So my five... hmmm.

1. Dyksick (my friend's electronic project- good stuff!)
2. Indukti (if you like Tool, you will LOVE this band)
3. Boards of Canada (wonderful sort of trance, techno, electronic music)
4. Prize Fighter Inferno (Claudio Sanchez of Coheed and Cambria's side project- I adore acoustic stuff)
5. Mae (Which is my favouritest band in the whole world and not just because they have my name (Maesi!- though that is why I bought their CD in the first place and was pleasantly surprised with how great their music is... my sig is actually part of one of their songs)

Pittsburgh is my hometown! (Though it is really isn't, but more people know where Pittsburgh is than my little town.) I've heard of that band, but never heard them.

If anyone besides lady_lazarus had heard of the band Enzo (the one I'm in) before I posted, I'll eat my beer bottle.

Yeah, a friend of mine made me listen to their song Black Widow (he directed me to their Myspace music page) about a month ago, telling me how much he loved them and thought I'd like them too.

Their Drummer is AMAZING!! He's the one that got me playing more double bass like Mike Portnoy. That's awesome that you know of them.

Not to stray off topic, but what little town are you from?
