I'm sorry but I work with 'average' people all day... they are idots. I feel like the guy in 'clerks' when everyone is asking the dumb quesitons.
example... We have a change machine... on that change machine is a bright red light that shines at eye level with a note: if light is on, machine is out of service.
The machine was out of quarters, the light was glowing pristinely from the matte black box at eye level. People would try several times to put thier money in the machine. :banghead3

"oh no, I'm just trying to get some quarters."
"I have quarters right here."
"no, I'm ok, I'll just get them from the machine."
"ok, but the light is on."

Maybe I'm just not very nice/sociable/whatever.

BTW, I finally found out that the Bush win was really orchestrated by all of the political cartoonists. They just simply couldn't lose their cash cow now!

I looked at all the options on the poll...I don't feel I fit any of them to be honest. I don't really feel average...I've been around what is called average...I'm not that. I don't think myself to be more intelligent than most, there are days when I would consider myself nearly brain dead and other days whwere it seems as if everyone is walking around in some sort of fog. I don't think I'm all that smart in some things but I excell in others. My IQ test a few years back put my intelligence high...I don't agree. I think intelligence is all on lived and learned ...if you've lived it you can relate to it first hand; if like with someones faith I don't understand then I can be dumb as a stone...so I think perspective on this goes on everyday realities. We are all smarter than others in something....and not as smart as others in other things.

Def :-Intelligence is a general mental capability that involves the ability to reason, plan, solve problems, think abstractly, comprehend ideas and language, and learn. While the definition and importance of intelligence is an issue of some controversy, especially in the popular press, a consensus opinion exists among intelligence researchers on many issues.

I needed to look up the definition of intelligenge before replying TVOR, which might well reflect the fact that I consider myself as 'average'

Seriously though, going on the above definition,
I belive I am well able to reason
Plan, solve problems; well I guess I never seem to see the obvious in problem solving. I often find myself going round and round in circles, until I stop, look at the problem again and realize the answer is easy.
Comprehend language and learn; I am fluent in two languages and nearly so in a third; I love words; I am passionate about them; the 'nuances' between cetain words that are sometimes used in the wrong context. I love Semantics, although I sometimes feel frustrated about correctness(ie there is no 'good' nor 'bad'; there is 'adaptive' and 'maladaptive').
Learn; I am an extremely slow learner; It takes me much longer than most to learn something. But, once I've learned something, it 'sticks'; I've noticed that some of the 'quick' learners tend to forget.
On reflection, I think my vote was indicative of my level of intelligence.

Seriously, though, I just saw this thread, otherwise I would have voted on it some time ago. I cast my ballot for "above average," because I am smarter than the majority of people I meet everyday. I like this forum, because there are more than a handful of intelligent people (SOGFPP, Spinks, TVOR, Soul, Master Vigil, etc.). It's very refreshing to know if I pick an argument or start a debate, that I have to pay attention and not go on auto-respond because the other side's arguments will follow the script exactly .

Of course, I tend not to be the best at mundane skills. They are limited to farming and computers, so in many ways, the other folks are superior to me. After all, it isn't the intellectuals that power the world, it's the grease monkeys, store clerks, housewives, and paper boys.
