Be still...

I'm new here, but have immensly enjoyed reading the poems in this section ...just thought I'd share one of my own.

I wrote this late last year, following a spiritual 'slump'. I came across it again tonight and realised that I can still pinpoint what each line pertained to. It dawned on me, that had I kept a daily written record through this time, and found that tonight instead of this...it wouldn't have meant nearly as much. Funny how, depending on individual interpretation of course, sometimes fewer words say the most.

Be Still, For Just a Moment

To swim life's river, and with it, observe the ebb and flow of the waters,
Is to learn the value of change in many of its manifestations.

To lend ear to the birds of the skies, and bathe in their wisdom,
Is to oversee land's struggle and maintain a song in your soul.

To rediscover energies from (seemingly) aimless tree roots,
Is to uncover what was once lost...to man, to time itself.

To ultimately become One with all that is,
Is to be led to our intended destination...

Back toward the pool of inspiration,
Back to the Source,
And with it,
Back to the Truth.

That poem was lovely! I can tell that you're a very spiritual person. Many times I read poems and don't understand what the author is saying, but yours is not like that. (I'm sort of thick headed). Your poem invokes a sense of peace. It reminds us that God or the "Truth" as you put it, is everywhere.

Thank you, Hema.

I'm always interested in others' views on my work.

I feel that poetry/prose all comes down to personal interpretation. It is fascinating to me, that ten people can read the same thing yet they each take something different from it ~ and each is equally valuable while remaining deeply personal. It all depends on how it relates to YOU. As such, the fact that even one person can relate to it, in whichever way, makes the writing worthwhile. Although it doesn't to me, if "Truth" to you means God, then that's all the better. Something so large and all-encompassing is difficult to describe and that is, in essence, what I was trying to put across.

And yes, it is everywhere. :)

Thank you so very much for taking the time to read it and share your thoughts!

That is lovely; I am a bit of an odball with poetry, I am afraid. I really love your style though - probably because it is like mine.

I guess poetry can be a very personal thing.

Thank you, michel. :)

I'd very much like to read some of your work, too. Style is something I don't really give much thought to, really. I don't seem to have a 'set' style (none that I can see, anyway). My moods affect not only the content of the poems I write, but also the form they take. I just go with the flow, so to speak. Not to worry about being an oddball ~ in many ways, we all are.

Again, thank you!

Thanks, Buttons! *hugs* back. :)

Just another one I wrote a while back;

A Flight Upon the Wind

Watch, as I tease and play with the leaves,
As I watch you.
Hear my delicate whispers,
As I hear yours.
Carry my joy with my pain,
As I carry yours.
See the trees dance to my music,
As I dance to yours.
Feel my flowing energies,
As I feel yours.

Walk with me.
Fly with me.
Glide with me.

For we are one, you and I.
We are one.

Oh, and a quick Haiku; (Once I start, I can't stop! :D)

The soul awakens,
And remembers its purpose,
Through Truth and with Love.

I loved all three of your poems, but especially that second one, A Flight Upon the Wind. Somehow, I could really see a connection and relate to it. Beautiful!
