Beer

some of the negative effects you may expect from regular beer drinking:
  1. "Beer belly". Heavy beer drinking may promote abdominal obesity in men, so called "beer belly".
  2. Heartburn. Beer contains powerful stimulants of gastric acid secretion and may provoke gastroesophageal reflux and cause heartburn.
  3. Blood pressure. Daily beer consumption (approximately 40 g of alcohol) may increase blood pressure.
  4. Intoxication & Dehydration. Alcohol is a dehydrating agent and downer that reduces activity of the central nervous system. High amounts of alcohol can turn into dehydration, intoxication, and hangover.
  5. Impairment of driving-related skills. Even small amounts of alcohol can have adverse effects on attention and motor skills. Many serious accidents are alcohol related.

Never drink then drive. That's just irresponsible.

As far as the others on your list...All of these things can be controlled if one drinks a beer of their choosing but in moderation.

Once I get back to the States, its craft-beers all the way! The South is getting a lot of good craft-brewers. They tend to be $1 or $2 more than the average-quality beers (when you're basically poor, this matters), but you get much more quality for the buck.

I definitely want to get to the UK to drink some of the beers there too; I've never been to the UK before.

There are a few here and there I like. I'm more of a lager fan such as Yuenling. It's probably my favorite. When I really want to taste some different ones I call up my buddy Rich who is a lot like you. He's never scared to try different beers with ranging alcohol content. He's introduced me to a few. A really good place to go is to a local Whole Foods. They have dozens you won't find in your local grocery store. The other thing I like to do is visit pubs and restaurants where they brew their own. Last year my wife and I took a cruise to the Bahamas and I tried a local beer there. Good stuff.

Ah I wish there was a Whole Foods near me. There are a couple regional grocery stores that have a pretty good stock of beers, from the mainstream to the craft and a few imports. Im always open to try new beers, but I haven't been to any pubs or restaurants attached to a brewery; there are a few nearby, though.

I also like Yuengling. It's cheap like Bud and Miller and that stuff, but it actually tastes like a decent beer. Definitely one of my favorites.

Not seen Yeungling in the UK. I'll look out for it.

Yuengling boasts being the oldest brewery in America. They apparently make a wide variety of beers, though I've only ever seen the regular lager, the light, porter, and black & tan in stores.

Hmmm...my usual online haunts don't have it and I've never seen it in a pub. A brewery of mystery over here!

I wouldn't be surprised if it were hard to find in the UK.

Im not gonna say it's on par with most craft beers or other such upper tier beer, but it's definitely the best of the mainstream beers. There's absolutely nothing wrong with it, IMO.

Sarah was as gorgeous as ever. At the other end of the spectrum I enjoyed a pint of White Rat from the Rat Brewery; an APA that is really fruity and fragrant. Nice one, Yorkshire!

When I do drink beer I prefer Franziskaner over much anything else, their Dunkel is probably one of the few truly dark beers I like but lacking that pretty much anything Sam Adams puts out

I like Sam Adams in general, especially Latitude 48, but their Oktoberfest seemed a bit disappointing for me...not sure what it is exactly.

Yesterday I had a Laughing Skull amber ale and New Holland's Sun Dog amber ale.

They were both pretty good, lots of flavor without being bitter.

Today, I have a Duck Rabbit Hoppy Bunny American black ale to try. I didn't realize that Duck Rabbit made other types of beers besides their main milk stout. Im looking forward to trying it later; it's got a 7.3% alcohol content!

I love beer.Way too much.I cant just have one.Instead I have one after another:) Seriously though,I was drinking everyday.I recently had to give it up.I say that all the time. This time I want to stay sober.I want a beer right now but I have to be strong.I am always B.B.Quing, so its normal for me to always have a beer in hand. Now I have to drink water:( :sad4:

If you want to cut down and can't seem to do it off your own bat, perhaps you could use a little outside help? Just a thought...
