Ben Carson wants abortion outlawed in cases of rape and incest

Do you think that Roe V Wade should stand as it is? Do you realize how many unborn children are aborted for the sake of convenience? Because the mother couldn't be bothered raising a child? Millions!! You're okay with that? You think we should just keep aborting babies?

People talk about a mother's rights. How about the little baby's rights? Who represents him/her? Who even cares?

Yes, if Hillary becomes our next President, things will stay the same. Millions more unborn children will be aborted.

Your ugly little green smiley face says it all. You think that's okay. I think it's terribly sad.

Fetuses don't have legal personhood. You can't over rule an already born person's rights for the sake of one who is not yet born.

You and I agree on the moral nastiness of elective abortion.
So I sincerely hope and pray that you support Planned Parenthood in their daily battle against Unplanned Parenthood and all the abortion and neglected children that go along with that.

If Roe vs. Wade is overturned, would you support a law that states people should register as "pro life" or "pro choice", and those who register "pro life" should be legally required to adopt at least 2 children? The first being one that has a medical and/or physical disability?

Are we aborting babies, or are we aborting foetuses? What qualities justify moral consideration?
Are foetuses self-aware? Are they sentient? Do they have self-interest? Do they anticipate futurity?
How are they different from a tumor or tapeworm? "Potential?" -- are we protecting an abstract?

Have you ever heard of a human fertilized embryo that turned out to be a tapeworm or a tumor?

My understanding is that a baby does doesn't become self aware before 12-18 months of age. If self awareness is how you determine whether aborting a baby is acceptable, then I suppose you would also agree that it's okay to kill an 11 month old child?

Does the lack of development in the areas of self interest and future expectations make a fetus less than human?

Many full grown mentally deficient human beings lack self awareness, self interest, and future expectations because of a brain disorder. Shall we kill them too because they are an inconvenience? How would that practice be any worse than aborting a human fetus who has not completely developed mentally?

Do you believe a fetus is not a human being?

Science tells us that from the moment of fertilization, a fertilized egg has his or her own unique DNA. He or she is uniquely different than any other human being.

A human being is defined as any individual of the genus Homo, especially a member of the species Homo sapiens; a person, especially as distinguished from other animals or as representing the human species.

Can a human fetus become a chicken? A frog? Isn't the human fetus distinguished from all other species?

Children who ARE born have the capacity to mature and reproduce, but they haven’t reached that stage of development yet. Does that make a 2 year-old less human?

It might do you well to consider the history of our country. The slaves were considered property, and not at all human. The killing of them was never considered to be murder. It's no different from people who think it's okay to kill millions of human fetuses.

That is some of the worst logic I have ever seen.

Yes, a fetus is human, but that does not make it a person. It is a potential person.

I understand your position. But the notion that the blob of cells that exist when egg is fertilized needs to be granted person-hood is even more insane than giving that status to corporations.

The problem is not a simple one. At 8 months it is harder to argue that the fetus isn't a person. Where do we draw the line? This is why I think the supreme court had the right idea with Roe vs Wade, but it needs better implementation. It is too easy to get a late term abortion. But I have no issue with someone getting an abortion in their first trimester or even early in their second.

This is also why I am a firm advocate of the day after pill. Anyone having sex who doesn't want children should be given this as standard practice for use as needed. This alone could reduce the number of abortions dramatically.

Obviously Planned Parenthood is not doing a very good job. There are still millions of babies being aborted. Maybe they need to rethink the way they are educating.

I am all for birth control. I just don't understand, with all the free birth control out there, why are there so many unwanred pregnancies? Can you? Have we become such a selfish and self centered people that we can't take the time to use birth control?

Instead we choose to abort. That's a pretty sad commentary on us as Americans.

I'm also for free parenting classes, and I don't care who offers them. But I think even you, as a supporter of PP, would agree that their current program is not working.

I'm glad you said Roe V Wade needs better implementation. That would be a good start.

As for the day after pill, how about using birth control before getting pregnant? Wouldn't that have a HUGE effect on the number of abortions performed in this country?

Are we really so self centered that we can't be bothered to use birth control? Just think how things could change if people weren't so into self. Don't you think that would be a much better route? If a woman can have the wherewithal to take a morning after pill, how much more effort would it take to use birth control?

No. It is not. Neither the sperm nor egg is a human being, and on is own does not have the potential of becoming one. When the sperm fertilizes the egg, only then does the fertilized egg becomes a human being.
This is one definition.
Others exist.....
- It becomes a human as soon as it is viable outside the womb.
- It becomes a human as soon as it is born.
- It becomes a human after x weeks gestation. (The value of x is a subject of contention.)

Why is your definition the only valid one?

It goes the other way too, the reason Catholics are against birth control is because, Monty Python jokes aside, they believe preventing impregnation is ending a potential life.

The main point is, no one idea should decide the issue for everyone else.

Over half of women getting abortions were using birth control. If only it were 100% effective.
