Best book ever written!

Not sure where 2 post this - it could lead 2 a religious debate, I suppose :)

Been book shopping again! Picked up a very interesting book called "Books that changed the world" by Andrew taylor

It is a summary of 50 of the best books ever written. There is the Bible & Koran along with books by Plato, Machiavelli, Shakespeare, Galileo, Dickens and Marx to name a few.

I didn't know an awful lot about Confucius before reading his chapter. A quick search of the web tosses up a few -

If you Google "Best books ever written" you get a lot of opinions. It's an interesting subject.

So, tell us what is your favourite book. Some of you may nominate the Bible and there is a lot of good stuff in the Bible such as "Let he who is without sin cast the first stone", "Love your enemy" and "Blessed are the meek."

It is an awfully hard choice, but I would have 2 give the nod to "The Mastery of Love" by Don Miguel Ruiz. This book is full of wisdom passed down from generation to generation amongst the Toltecs. It has stories and advice all designed 2 help you become more loving towards yourself and other people.

For some idea, try plugging this phrase into google - Mastery love heart magical kitchen

The book is worth getting for the self-love prayer on its own! You are in luck! You don't even need 2 buy the book - it is out there in cyberspace -

So, tell us about your favourite book and why you enjoy it so much.

Cheers!

New Jedi Order: Traitor by Matthew Stover. It's blatant fantasy but still manages to be more meaningful than most religious or "spiritual" books.

If you're naming a "best book ever written", you haven't read enough books.

So for me, it's a book I've not even read yet: Don Quixote. (I have it on my shelf, and have for years, but haven't gotten around to it.) It's my best book ever written, because it's a guy who spends all his time reading grand adventure books, and then decides to live as a great knight, and proceeds to charge a bunch of windmills thinking that they're vicious giants.

So not only is that TOTALLY ME, it's basically the book that basically gave birth to LARPing.

Robert Heinlein's "Starship Troopers".
Really.
Though I am a sci fi lover it's not the powered armor suits or futuristic battles (of which there are only two and they are very short) that make this my favorite piece of literature. It addresses much in the way of philosophy and societal structuring that I found myself agreeing with at an early age.
I also read Joe Halderman's "The Forever War" as it was more space troopers in armor. Alot more scientific concepts that were really cool and a deeper story of the aliens motives, but it was the philosophical antithesis of ST.

Starship Troopers definitely my favorite. But it was a close tie with Joseph Heller's "Catch 22", another work of genius.

No question, the Bible is the greatest book, and the only book containing "the truth" about God. (John 17:17) It is the all-time best seller, written by over 40 different men spanning some 1,500 years. Completed almost 2,000 years ago, it is as relevant today, IMO, as it was when first penned. Not a science book, the Bible is scientifically accurate. Historically accurate, and uniquely, a book that unerringly foretells future events, the Bible is without peer amongst all literature. (Isaiah 46:9,10)

Sorry, NT-Bible is not a book in the real sense. It is a conglomerate of books jumbled together; never written by one author under a systematic theme.

Quran is the best and mostly read book/recitation in the world, authored by One-True-God, most systematic and living book with claims as well as reasons/wisdom on all ethical, moral and spiritual issues.

I am happy that everybody has accepted Quran the best written/authored book ever. It deserve this credit as it has the signatures of One-True-God as we find his signatures on the Universe/s created by Him.His Word corresponds with His Work.

I don't think The Oxford English Dictionary is a book one reads from cover to cover.

Please enlighten us as to why you chose it as a best book ever written?

Do you want to convey us that English has the biggest vocabulary of counting words in the world? Please
