Best video game music and soundtracks

Final Fantasy used to put out some really good ones, back when Nobuo Uematsu composed the music.
Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time is a really good one.
Castlevania also usually has some really good ones, with Symphony of the Night, Curse of Darkness, and Lament of Innocence being my favorites.
Diablo 2 though is probably my favorite video game soundtrack.

I like to think video games have always had good music, starting with the NES. Castlevania, Zelda and Metroid have always had good ones. Megaman also had some good songs, especially once the X series started. For Sega there is Sonic, Shinning Force, Streets of Rage, and many other good ones. I really Final Fantasy though. The soundtrack I have always loved as much as everything else about the games, and when the development crew changed the games seemed to loose alot of what them shining diamonds in the gaming world.

I can't believe I forgot to mention The 7th Guest. And good music is really what was needed to help get through some of the more frustrating and difficult puzzles. Shame on us all for forgetting about such a classic game!

Spyhunter
This was the first ever computer game I played. We were visiting relatives, I was a kid and bored so the relatives thought C64 and Spyhunter would keep me entertained for an hour or two. They were right, I was hooked.

Oh, and if you don't already watch them, I also present an episode from the series Extra Remix, produced by Extra Credits:

Very awesome series showcasing the work of video game remixers.

If you're like me and love the music from classic days of gaming but prefer the more sophisticated sound samples of modern games, remixes are a great source for that.

My favorite rendition of Gerudo Valley:
